This unit does offer data logging, and it has a usb port to hook up to your computer with their software.

yes, you can adjust the shift firmness and pressure in all three programs,

the cover of the instruction book i have says 2004-2006 f150 5.4 and 4.6, but this isn't the final version of the instruction manual, so i'm not completely possitive but i would assume it would work for both

yes and no. it allows you to go in and tweak each of the three tunes. it allow you to change: wot fuel amount (amount of fuel injected at wot), normal fuel amount injected (reasonably lower this and it helps gas mileage is what it says) wot shift points for each gear, normal shift points for each gear, octane of fuel (this changes the timing..etc...) tire size, gear ratio, shift firmness, wot shift firmness, i'm sure i missed a couple things because the instruction booklet is at home. but you get the idea.

Well - the Xcal2 with TP's custom tuning typically nets significantly more power than the 17xx 'canned' products. All of that info can be found by Searching the 'Chips' forum - a proven fact, well documented for those who care to look, and a no-brainer.

And the 17xx's are known to be 'best-of-breed' as far as all of the 'canned' tuners in terms of performance gains.

So, it follows that the 'canned' tunes in the Edge (which is not yet for sale, btw), will not exceed the performance of the 17xx tuners, and hence will lag significantly behind Troyer custom tuning by about the same margin, if not more.

Plus you are basically stuck with those tunes, as you cannot know (and the included adjustments are too limited & not flexible enough) how to modify them safely to accomodate future mods, let alone dial it in for your specific vehicle, properly.

It does have the 'edge' in display features, I'll grant that, for now: the Xcal2 is going to get a separate display screen as well.

Thanks for the correction on the datalogging - but to put that info to good use, you'd need to have full access to the tunes - and you don't. Gross adjustments to the fuel curve, or global spark, across the board ,is nowhere near good enough, nor even a good idea in some cases.

Me, I'll pay a premium for performance first, and a PROVEN, future-proof product - the 'bling' takes a back seat.

This is nothing more than a 17xx clone on sterioids - it's still a dead-end and inflexible product from a performance tuning perspective. But, good marketing and 'flash' sell - whatever. There's one born every day...

A 17xx ( $300) + a Scanguage ($150) + some DWV stock ($10) = still cheaper than the Edge

Hiya Joey - Ice Age is over - I'm all thawed out.

And you know: garbage in = garbage out. Chitburgers are a renewable resource, btw.

WTF? You say you'll pay a premium for performance, "PROVEN" future-proof product and then say you'd use the DWV intake contraption. That's a low dollar POS that someone put together using drainage pipe. Someone did it and claims it was great. Is that "PROVEN" to you? You're right, there's one born every day.
