No updates to report yet - people owe me call backs and such. I am not sitting idle though, as I have a few alternative/contingency solutions up my sleeve.

i'm down for one. how high is the cowl? am i going to be able to see down into the engine bay from the drivers seat, that would be sweet.
what about a wider scoup, what would that look like? hope i'm not asking for too much, lol.

Well the production design hasn't been finalized yet of course, but it looks like the cowl would be 2-3" high at the back, and I'm not sure if the scoop can be made wider (since there has to be room for the louvers too). Hopefully I'll have more details after people get back from SEMA next week.

OK guys... not so good news. It doesn't look like Keystone is behind the product as much as before, since their staff and resources are already committed to projects for the new F150 bodystyles and won't be available for some time. They said they would still consider doing the hood later, but how much interest will there be months/years from now when their staff is finally rolling off their current 2004 F150 projects? I don't think it's worth the risk to wait for them to come around.

I haven't had much time to explore other partners for this project, as I really focused my efforts on Keystone. But there are a lot of other companies who make similar products, and a few of them did express interest but we've lost touch since before SEMA. If you guys really want this to happen, maybe some of you who are "connected" in industry can help get another company on board. ("On board" with the project, not on the message board!) :hh:

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully things will turn around. The hood looks sharp as hell.

Dang

Man I can'y believe this. This post obviously proves that the hood is a great idea from their business standpoint. Im a business student at UTSA (The University of Texas at San Antoino), and I think Keystone is making a bad choice not to produce this product. Anyone can easily see that this would make a definate profit....just read the 6+pages of people crapping thier pants for one of these hoods. Keystones loss is someone elses gain. My father lives in Houston and knows some people, I will see what I can do. I will make some calls in the morning. BMWBig6, is the design of that hood copyrighted, etc? I guess im asking if the hoods in your first post can be made by another company, without and major differences (I like them the way they are) Drop me an email.

The rights to the design belong to me (not Keystone), so any company can make the hoods according to the design I have shown as long as they have my permission to use it.

I agree Keystone may have missed a big opportunity here, but I can also understand their staffing and resource limitations. They don't want to be caught with their pants down now that the new F150 is out, and are concentrating their efforts on that market right now.

Let us know if your research turns up some useful leads! Thanks!

I had my father talk to a couple of friends, and he said they all agreed it was a good lookin' hood, but no serious inquires. I have one person here in San Antonio that has a fabrication shop, but havent been able to get a hold of him yet....maybe out of town. I'll let ya know if what we talk about.

Yeah, Keystone will build the hood if I can supply the plug for the hood design. Terry @ Proglass has already given me a quote for the plug. That would cost me several thousand dollars to have one made since I can't make one myself, and I'm not sure if I want to spend that kind of monet on a "hobby" right now. Anyone have any bright ideas?
