Global Warming?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Global Warming?!?!?!?!?!?!?
After watching the TV today, I am watching a preacher and some other guy argue about global warming.
In my opinion, global warming is a natural matter. The earth goes through many years of cooling then warms, then will cycle through the process again and again. These huge A$$ suv's arn't contributing to this. If anything, the extra smog will only cause side effects in dogs that make them hump and attack small children at a more consistant rate. If you feel the urge to hug a tree, have at it. Just leave the other people who shake hands out of it.

did you see the news..
tonight where they are saying that our trucks are hurting Gods world and thier pushing that in advertising against low milage vehicles(gas guzzlers)...I'd bet God's cruising around heaven in a L
I don't see the tie in between religion and global warming.
I personally think we're in a state of global warming. Weather patterns have changed. Ice caps are melting. Glaciers are receding. Ocean levels are rising.
Could be a cycle. Could be caused by humans. In my view, humans are not doing anything to help the situation. If anything we are exacerbating the situation by emitting record quantities of CO2, CO, and various other pollutants that contribute to the greenhouse effect. Add to that the destruction of rainforests and aquatic plant life which decreases the total amount of photsynthesis resulting in less CO2 conversion into O2. Compounding this problem is the increase in ultraviolet levels caused by the thining of the ozone layer which is detrimental to living organisms.
Not a very rosey picture for the future.

Global warming is a cycle that will end. They have only been able to track the worlds' median daily temperature since the late 1800's I believe. Religion, or lack thereof has absolutely nothing to do with it. Neither does car, power plant emissions, etc. Any scientist that claims so is using 'unproven' theory to back their theory up (junk science).
it is just my opnion but I don't think that all the pollutants that have been expelled, by all the engines since the day they were invented, would equal the pollutants expelled by one vulcanaic eruption. (note the neat run-on sentance) We have had little to no effect on the o-zone. Just my $.02

Excellent point and right on the money. Global warming as far as caused by humans is a myth thought up during the 80's by people smoking to much crack.
Global warming is a GREAT thing, it's natural and it's what GOD wants. I always ask these idiots that think humans are the cause of it this:
"If humans caused it, then how in the hell did we get out of the ICE AGE, duh.... hello people, global warming is a very good thing, more food grown, more sunny days to wash and wax our trucks, more days to drive them around and help warm up the damn weather. I am waiting for this damn cycle of global warming to hurry up because I am TIRED of the damn snow back here.
Mother earth is fine now, she was fine long ago and she will continue to be fine. Kind of like them morons in Spain worried about the damn tanker spilling more oil. Like its going to kill them NOT, during world war II hundreds of ships were sank at sea they all spilled oil and NO DAMN problem. Earth cleans itself well, its how GOD designed it. We humans can't screw it up any more then mother natural herself.
So sleep well tonight because now you know for a FACT we humans have nothing to do with global warming. I think tomorrow I am going to drive an extra 50 miles to burn up a little more oil and help warm up a little bit more and maybe I won't see any snow for a while.

What does dinosaurs have to do with it, with the exception they are the reason we have oil?
I don't recall the dinosaurs driving themselfs out of here by driving cars around and causing global warming. That's a good point dinosaurs are no longer around, not because of humans but because of some damn BIG rock.
In other words we CAN NOT cause any problems, just mother nature can, or GOD, or who ever you want to believe in. Hell I don't think the dinosaurs even did drugs, well they may have ate a sh*t load of WEED...

I reallllly hope some of you are kiddin' around with your answers.
True, the earth does go through periods of warming
and cooling. However, humans do contribute to global
warming. This planet is affected by everything we
do, and you are very sheltered if you think otherwise.
That crazy neighbor who drains his oil in his back yard
affects the planet. The neighbor down the street who
drives the biggest gas guzzling, noxious fume spouting
suv is affecting the planet. Everything we do affects
this planet in either a positvie or negative manner. How
can any sane person honestly say that humans and their
actions don't contribute to global warming? The world
doesn't just go on in the same state forever. It's a
living, breathing thing that is affected by the actions of
every living thing on this planet. Do you really thinks all
the factories, the millions of cars, the millions of cfc
producing products we use don't affect this planet?
Please tell me some of you are kidding.

Statistically speaking...
...given the age of the earth (4-5 billion yrs?), the little amount of time we have seen "global warming" (100 yrs?) would not make a statistically valid "trend" at all. It may be that global warming IS taking place, but to be statistically "significant" we would need MANY more years of data to make it a trend. We'll all be dead and gone by then.
100 yrs of global warming does not amount to half an eye-blink in the actual age of our planet.
It may just be that Man's activities HAVE caused the climate to change, but given the incredible "engine" the earth is, we may be arrogant in thinking the activities of Mankind have any effect at all.
In other words, yes, we may be experiencing global warming, but it's too early to tell if it is a "trend" that will have a lasting effect. But if we are seeing statistically significant global warming, it may be a NATURAL cycle, independent of Man's influence.
Only time will tell.

Geographically speaking...
100 years is enough time to get a sample. Statistics
can be made to meet any criteria you'd like. Geography
doesn't lie. Just look around and you'll see many
changes caused by man...desertification, deforestation
just to name a couple. Man does affect the climate of
this planet. It may be only a short term consequence
or it might just be a long-term consequence. It is not
arrogant to think that man can affect anything. I don't
need long term statistical data to tell me that man
can affect even the rainfall on this ball of dirt. Without
man's influence there would not be acid rain. There
would not be smog covering the largest cities on the
planet like Tokyo and Mexico City. Man's arrogance
is irrelevant. Smog, acid rain, global warming,
deforestation, desertification, cfcs, and erosion, don't
require long term statistical data to be proven true.
I understand your thinking jay. There is new data
coming out now that supports the idea that the earth
is actually "healing" itself, that the hole in our ozone
is shrinking. Some say this supports the fact the all
this global warming is part of a large cycle the earth
naturally goes through. I just personally don't believe
that.

I'll stick with statistics, and you need a more representative sampling to indentify any trend.
I did NOT say we are not seeing a trend; I said we can't CALL it a trend without more information, i.e., more years.

Statistically yes, but geographically no.
Why do I suddenly feel like Bill Clinton trying to figure
out the definition of is??
Jeez, I've gotta stop
posting on topics like this. From now on, I'll leave the
debating to you guys. Have fun with it fellas, I'm
