Unhappy

I hope that's not true, but I can't see what would keep him away from the boards this long. Definitely a sad day if it is true Does anyone know him personally??,,,,98

Petrol, Max Mitchell is a long standing member of this site. He is the nicest guy we never met. Always informative and curtious.

This is wierd. There has got to be a way to find out for sure. I guess statisticly, this will happen, but this is an upstanding member of this community. It would be good to know for sure so that we can deal with the loss. Maybe a dedication on the home page or something.

I guess this is how it goes in this message board thing. We think we "know" someone but it's really just typed words.

Well, we haven't heard from him, so this is not a good sign. A dedication page would be a nice touch for at least for the people on here that knew the man.
Like someone said this is a message board and it's hard/impossible to track and know what someone is doing when they do not log in. His family may not know how connected he/we get to this site at times. Now I'm not blaming them for jumping on here and saying that he has passed, it's not an easy thing to do and they are allowed to feel what ever sorrow they want.

RIP, god rest his soul.

Lightbulb

I searched for that name over at FTW, and came up with someone with the exact same user name, all lower case letters with a space in between. I emailed him, but no response yet, and this maxs' last post was back in April? Only two total, both classifieds? Hoping to hear something? Hmmm.,,,,98

This max lived in Dallas though

guys,

I'm not saying I'm sure he's gone, I sure hope he's not and I hope he comes back and haves a good laugh at this, but there were just too many material inconcistencies I couldn't reconcile so that's why I posted, but maybe we should wait on a personal tribute page or whatnot....

Max is or was such an avid poster that he is still on the top 25 list here even though according to this webiste his last post was very early June. And he always replied to my questions, I felt like maybe his favorite "village idiot" but he probably responded to tons of stupid questions. When I couldn't find any recent posts, I posted a response to something he had posted (thereby generating an email to him (presumably), but still no response. I did that a couple times. Then, just for the hell of it, I did a google search and the very first thing that pops up is an obituary, with a date 10 days or so after his last posts saying how this max loved cars and engines (but many guys like that stuff)...

So anyway, I would like to find out, but I don't like to butt into people's lives, we're all just strangers here, so I don't know a non-obtrusive way of contracting anyone. The only loss I feel is that I wish some of his relatives knew how much we enjoyed him here. We may all be strangers, but I remember coming home thinking, "I'm sure Max answered my question today, so I can work on my truck tomorrow.."

One more thought, the webmaster does have everyone's email address (I think we put it in when we registered, even if we opted not to let others use it to email to us). He could email max privately and see if he gets a response....

Max

I hope Max hasn't passed away. He was one of the first to welcome me to the site. He did have a wealth of knowledge. All this is worring me. Like cpadpl said, would be nice if somebody could try emailing him and see if they get a responds??? So we could know for sure.

I was not going to post on this thread. I did not want to think about this thread. I actually posted a question about the man in an unrelated thread in hopes that someone that knew something would respond. I removed it. False hope is not a good thing.

For me, anyone that will help a "stranger" keep their vehicle on the road, a vehicle that may be used to get to work or that transports their family, that guy that tries to help on his own time with no monetary compensation for his efforts is a great guy.

Yet, when you think about how helpful Max was/is, I find it very stressful that WE can not figure out away to determine if he is okay or not. No closure is a very bad thing.

Spend years on a board, spend your own time writing thousands of posts to help others and what does it get you? Oh, if your lucky, you might be remembered for a few weeks on the first page of the general discussion section.

I hope max is getting a good laugh from all this.

As 98SCREAMER stated above, the 'WORLD' max listed Dallas TX as his location. That max had a 2000 F150 4x4 as does our max.

One more piece of evidence, Texas gas prices:
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...5&pagenumber=2
I would rule out the Utah obit.

Max last posted on June 4th.
From reading many of his other posts I just can't believe that max would do anything that would have got him more than 180 days.
And remember, Texas passed that No Parole legislation so, just be patient.

There is a white pages listing for a Max A Mitchell in Ft.Worth TX.

I'd hate to have people thing we're stalking him, but...

I think it is time for the WEBMASTER to step in and attempt and E-mail or Voice contact.

BTW: I checked through the Dallas Morning News, and Ft.Worth Weekly and found no info.

I'll be honest, it's really none of my business what happened to Max. That does not mean that I would not be upset if something happened to him, rather it is perrogative if he decided to no longer visit this site of his own free will and he owes nobody an explaination if this is the case.

Though it contrary to our privacy policy, here is the email address that he has on record. maxmitchell@excite.com Because there is sincere and genuine concern in this thread for his well-being, I am posting it here.

BTW, his last activity as logged in to the site appears to have been on 6/4 and his last IP appears to eminate from Amarillo, TX area (but I could be wrong about that).
