Amazing they got the track raceable again after the fire.
Not sure I'm 100% convinced that Montoya had an equipment failure instead of brain fade, but I guess we will never know. I was a little surprised the broadcast crew would not even acknowledge the possibility of driver error.

It wasn't driver failure you can clearly see that something broke ( from the sparks coming out from under his car) and what ever broke caused the rear tires to lock.. You can clearly see he was nowhere near them, he just slid out of control when whatever it was broke. Nascar will look at the car and be able to tell. I'm willing to guess something with the driveshaft or rear end.
Nascar is saying that it could of been a suspension piece that broke on the rear of his race car.

I have not seen any video except what was showed during the broadcast last night.
It all seemed pretty inconclusive to me. I could not tell that his wheels locked before he lost control.
The sparks I saw did not start until the car made a rough transition from the apron to the track. Pretty much any car that made a rough transition from the apron to the track threw up sparks, all weekend long.
It's going to be pretty hard to evaluate what broke before the crash, because there sure is a lot broken on Montoya's car now, lol.
I really don't know what caused the crash, but I do think it's possible for a driver to lose focus and make a bonehead mistake under yellow. It just struck me funny that the broadcast crew would not even allow for the possibility.

While I absolutely do not care for Montoya, this was in no way his fault or on done on purpose.
Something broke on the car. He was traveling in a straight line and the car turned hard right. That's more than just a flat tire or a bonehead move. And the track is pretty much level along the back stretch so there is no rough transition from the apron to the racing surface as in the corners.

oh it is... ever been to a dirt track race under the lights... more accidents happen under caution because of dirt kicked up from the wreck than youd like to believe... but this is NASCAR totally different. moving on!

Looks like they slammed Chad Knaus, and to a lesser degree JJ & JG over the C pillars.

Didn't do diddly to Brad K though.

Read today that the truck arms failed on Montoya's car. That'll make it hard to control.
