So what do you think about the upcoming T series? Do you think it'll be a good replacement when the 2012's wear out? I think that for our little plumbing company, the T series will work well.

I'd still have choices of transmissions, and a tougher easier to work on truck.

So... any bets on who's gonna be the first to do a million miles on one of these babies?!

http://www.millionmilevan.com/

Betcha the Transit will bust apart after 100k.

Sad to see the tried and true E series go away! I love driving them! Especially when they got the AdvanceTrac RSC... I love driving the E350 at work with that...

Now I'm really scared to see what the new ambulance package is going to look like.

Right...

The first page on the first UK web site I looked at for used vans has 9 vans listed with anywhere between 183k and 100. This is hard European miles mostly in urban situations. They really beat cars there way more than we do.

Edit:
In case you doubt... Link

While the E series has been a great van, thoes of us who have been driving them every day for many years know they have thier strong, and thier weak points. I don't think that the Transit will be any different.

If your lying in the back of an ambulance, are you really going to give a flying f what it looks like on the outside?

If you'd rather, I'm sure that Dodge and Mercedes would be more than happy to fill in the "gap" left by the exit if the long running E series. Maybe you'd like to see Nissan take a chunk of the market as well?

I've got to say, as someone who has been driving these Ford vans for several years, it's hard to understand why people are so bent out of shape over Fords decision to FINALLY update thier full size van. If they didn't the competition would continue to blow the doors off that old E series.

Well put. What really surprises me is the people complaining about the replacement that is a diesel with a manual tranny! I could have sworn I heard the same group crying because they couldn't get something like this...

Will the diesel handshaker be actually available in the USA?

Just saw this. Transit will be powered by the 3.5L Ecoboost.

Can't say, i don't like the Transit, but wish ford would build them here instead of importing them from Turkey.

Considering some models even have dual rear wheels, I would expect so. No unibody could handle the load of something that requires duallies.

Edit - I take that back. Found an article that states unibody, and it will be made in KC. The Transit Connect, a totally different vehicle is made in Turkey.

The current transit used in Europe is body on frame though. We shall see.

If that thing has no frame, I would not even look at it for heavy duty commercial use!
