Question for parents
Go buy the truck now and you'll enjoy 3 or so years of scratch free and clean interior.
My 3 year old is old enough now where he can reach the door handle and strong enough to open the door and climb inside and stand on the drivers seat and loves to push and pull on buttons.
My passenger seat already has a mud stain on the seat cause my son climbed in with muddy shoes and stood on the seat. The truck is not even 2 months old.

For many people, our kids are the best thing that ever happened to us.
For others, they would give anything to have their own kid, but they can't.
If you can't handle the thought that your kid might harm your precious interior, or that having a kid might prevent you from affording the truck you think you deserve...Well, just don't have kids! Simple.

But they will test your patience to no end!...lol
As the father of a five-year-old, and someone who is extremely **** about cars, the way I've made peace with the whole parenthood dilemma is to simply accept the fact that certain vehicles in my fleet (primarily the wife's '05 Escape and my daily driver '97 Ranger) are going to be "beasts of burden" that will have to bear the brunt of abuse the young one will inevitably dish out.
I've had to accept that these vehicles will not be perfect most days of the week, and I mainly just try to keep them clean and picked up of all the crap that goes along with having a kid. However, to expect them to look like they did before we had a kid is simply unrealistic, and you have to accept that there are some battles you will never win.
Now for my "babies" (my '05 F-150 and my '08 Mustang) I simply have not allowed the kid to be in these vehicles up to this point and he has learned from an early age that these are important things to daddy and that he must respect them as such. He is just now getting to the age where I feel he is mature enough to understand what he can and cannot do in these cars and will probably begin allowing him to go for rides with me in these vehicles and see how it goes.

Love the wife to much.
Dude, Just buy the darn truck!
You don't have to puseyfoot around here with us.
It's clear that you want it.
I think the title of this article should be more like "help me convince my wife that I need this truck".

and i thuoght that was bad!

But, wife already agrees it makes more sense to get the 4 door truck I want now, that way it's paid off by the time rugrats are in our life.
Found one for $13k with 60k miles.
you just had to go say that! My son is 8 months old and dont have any of these problems yet. But now i think its time to get me a 2nd vehicle for the boy. My only complaint right now is the car seat is putting indentions in my leather seat

i purchased a used 1990 single cab truck in 1992, we had my son in 1996 and i drove that truck until 2001. purchased another used truck then, then another on 2004.
in 2007 I purchased a new Avalanche and a new Escalade for my wife, kid where old enough and my income made this no problem. today i have a 09 corvette Z06 sitting next to my wifes 2012 ecsalade platinum, latter this year my son will start driving my avalanche and i am getting a new f150 platinum or harley.
my point, it all comes in time and get your priorities straight. make good choices now, makes things better latter.
the best advice i can give you is to make sure you dont have kids until it is on your terms and you are ready.
