VERY WELL PUT.

arguing with a maintenance guy at a hotel is a no win situation.
Considering he works for the hotel he probably has the ability to know your room number, name, home address and credit card info.

I am sure the OP has had victims of crimes and he was thinking "why did you put yourself in that situation"

So when a woman wears a short skirt and gets raped its partly her fault? That seems to be the logic you guys are using by wanting to place the blame partly on "the victim".

I highly doubt any of you guys who are being so critical of Ri would honestly let some landscaper come up to you and your woman and berate you about something as trivial as keeping your trailer connected to your truck. (Which by the sound of it, he has done before) Keep telling yourselves you wouldn't get a little frustrated at the guy after he pressed the issue wouldn't leave you or your girl alone. I love all the monday morning quarterbacking going on. IF the maintenance guy did it, Nothing Ri did would warrant what could have possibly happened to him and his girl if he would have had a blowout on the highway due to the vandalism. And once again, him being LE doesn't have anything to do with anything.

I agree. If he were just trying to slash your tires and cost you money, he would've pierced the tire all the way through. It's easy to do on the sidewall of a tire.

Hope you catch him on the cameras !

Rape and not parking within the lines are two totally separate things. If he wasn't parked right the owner of the hotel has the right to tell him to move. It's not his property to park how he pleases. As said before, it doesn't matter if he's parked this way before, management of the hotel makes the call not him. He is just a guest and must follow the rules as anyone else.

Maybe this year the hotel got another manager that goes strictly by the book.. If it was Me I probably would have said something too, but then I would have moved my truck to park PROPERLY. Then there wouldn't have been a problem. I'm not saying its all RI fault but he does share partial blame.. Think of I this way. If he didn't park that way and give him a hard time would the maintenance guy have done what he did. We will never know.

Also being he was parked the way he was he got lucky in his truck and trailer didn't get towed. After all you are on someone else's property and you have to go by their rules of how they run the show.

Maybe if he never bought a Motorcycle and trailer this wouldn't have happened. Or maybe if he had been born a girl it wouldn't have happened. Or maybe........what a lame arguement!

How about if the Hotel/Motel had not hired such a psycho-dweeb it wouldn't have happened. They bear some responsibility to not put hair-trigger misfits in contact with the public to represent their establishment. If this guy is unfit to have public contact and represent the business then it should have been the manager who pointed out RI's "crime" and not the gardener. Perhaps this guy is a loose cannon who cannot follow proper chain of command or has a little ****complex.

The fact is that a crime was committed and this guy's actions make him suspect and he has a motive. If RI had seen the guy do the deed then he would be justified taking matters into his own hands. As it stands now he all he has is 2 cut tires and an idea of who might have done it. No matter how you look at it having $600 worth of tires destroyed while PAYING to use this establishment just isn't justified!

Hope you can catch the one who did this, keep us posted.

Update, the tires should be arriving sometime today at Firestone & I will have them installed asap! For the people who wonder why I did not detatch the trailer from the truck, it makes no sense, I paid $3500.00 for the trailer & $23,000 for the new 2012 FLHX Harley Davidson Street Glide contained inside of it! The bike stayed locked up inside of the trailer when not in use, + I needed access to load & unload via the rear ramp door! The way he wanted me to detatch & park the trailer I would of had to drive over the lawn to do so! Not with my bike! I have no regrets about the trip other than what I found out after backing up the rig into my driveway! We both had a great time & the motorcycle ride of our life on the Kangamangus! I would not have changed anything about what I have done with parking my rig & protecting its valuable contents! Next time I simply will not stay or spend my $$$ in such an unfriendly environment! My girlfriend stated what happened to my tires on the trip adviser! The critique she wrote will possibly keep their business down which will in the long run cost them more than the price of my vandalized tires! Yes, what goes around comes around! The tapes have shown nothing at this time according to the Hotel manager which frankly does not suprise me at all! It is what it is & once the new tires are installed on the truck I will have long moved on from this minor ordeal in my life! The Hotel by the way that we stayed at was the BriarCliff in North Conway! I truly hope that they loose business! It is a fact that this act of vandalism possibly more had I suffered a blowout on the ride home, happened on their property! That is a fact & I am amazed that she, the manager did not file a claim with their property insurance carrier due to the fact that a Police Report was filed!

RI, I completely understand your side and I agree. It's unacceptable I would have kept a lock for the trailer tongue so it can't be hooked up so it could have gone in two spots.

I may have missed it but it is supposition on who did it so far.
It could have been other locals that did this.
If not, what makes the hotel liable for what an individual did ?

You know better than to question why the hotel did not file something with their insurance company, they do not insure your property on the hotel property. This is insurance 101.

How many times have the dispatchers had to argue with someone wanting to file a report for shopping cart damage at a store ?

Insurance does not work this way.

Too bad the video didn't capture anything, but that's why we're innocent until proven guilty. It was likely the maintenance guy, but it could have been some other low life who was simply jealous of your almost $70,000 worth of 'toys' taking up space out back behind the local hotel.

I thought everyone did this? As easily as our trucks can be broken into, I'd almost think it'd be safer to detach and lock the trailer as opposed to leaving it hooked up. Steal the truck, break into the trailer later.

I agree with RI. If it were some random jealous person, they would've completely flattened the tires. With the maintenance man it was personal, and he was trying to hurt someone by disguising the cuts.

He's investigated crimes and knows the mentality behind them, I'm sure.

For your information the truck & trailer were parked in front of the Hotel approximately 25 Feet from the roadway! The trailer weighs too much to wrestle trying to move it without the truck hooked up to it, so detatching it was not an option nor was driving my truck or motorcycle over the lawn! Oh yes, I have two locks that I use attatched to the hitch & a lockable boot attatched to the wheel when not in use or attatched to the truck & a huge Boron Metal Pad Lock securing the rear ramp door! I did hear a car door slam during the night & a vehicle drive away about 0330Hrs from the parking lot when I got up to use the bathroom during the night. On our side of the Hotel however, I did not have a window observing that parking lot! I will know better the next time that I travel with the bike & trailer to have a window view of my stuff at all times! Lots of idiots in this world!...

Thats fine cause I will get $600.00 or more out of them when people read my girl's writeup on the trip adviser regarding this establishment & not book a room at this place based on what happened here to my personal property! Like I stated, what goes around comes around! The manager of the Hotel already called my girl three times regarding her critique on the trip adviser & she was pissed & wanted her to take the critique down from the sites comments section! It's Peak Fall Foliage season & a lack of business due to the writeup is just how the consumer can get some justice! ........

I just read what your girlfriend wrote on the trip advisor and I think it was actually quite polite and to the point. She did not bash the hotel or insinuate in anyway as to who might of / could have done it. I say Kuddos to her for expressing her opinion on a very serious matter that could have cost both of your lives and still conducting herself like a lady.
