You need to rethink this. Clearly the majority Dems DID NOT WANT to approve a budget before the elections.

Why? Because they would have been held accountable, and they would have lost even more seats!

Their intent was to hide their intentions, keep the house, and pass their dream budget AFTER the election.

Problem was they lost the house in a historic landslide, and the Dem's realized there would be serious repercussions to ram-rodding their agenda through in a lame-duck session. So they chickened out.

They punted the budget issue to the next Congress, who was inaugurarated in January.

Blaming the last Congress' failure to pass a budget on the minority? Sorry, that's not going to fly.
just saying that could be reson since they used the filibuster ALOT. The dems definetly should have at least came up with a budget while they had control. today, the budget is being held up by planned parenthood. planned parenthood is a social issue, it dosent belong in the budget

Exactly. It needs to be eliminated from the budget. That is what the Republicans are trying to do. Never should have been in a budget in the first place.

This is

So, signs carried by zealots claim that federal money shouldn't go to abortions, hence Planned Parenthood should be defunded!? Surely lawmakers know that federal money isn't used to provide "abortions", yet the republicans are using the issue to pander to their base and now it appears that Democrats are the irrational ones who are holding up budget agreements.

Politics I tell you.

Yeah, I'm real worried the IRS won't cash my check on the 18th.

If it shuts down for more than a couple of days, I'll be amazed.

exactly! if republicans want less abortions, there should be more birth control available for people to get, and more education about it. planned parenthood is more about womens health anyways, its private money that goes to abortions

Are you for real?

There is not enough birth control or education about birth control out there for you? Seriously? Do even live on this planet?

If you have the internet, you can get all kinds of free education about birth control.

Cheap, effective birth control is available in practically every gas station, drug store and supermarket in the country, among other places. Not available enough?

If you are old enough to be having sex, you should be able to figure out how to get education about birth control, and should be able to find and buy some birth control if you you need it.

If all that fails and there is an unwanted pregnancy, that's too friggin bad for the parties involved. I don't see why anyone should expect the taxpayers to borrow more money from China to fund an abortion.

What kind of dependent state have we created here? "I can't get educated about birth control! I can't get birth control! I can't get my abortion!"

Take a little initiative and solve your own problems for once. We are tired of paying inefficient and expensive government to solve them for you. WE CAN'T AFFORD IT. GET IT?

I swear, personal responsibility is DEAD. Can't get your birth control? Puhhleaze.

Im saying that not every young guy or girl exactly feels comfortable going to the store and getting birth control. they can go to these kind of places and get it for free and the parents dont have to know. imagine yourself as a 16 year old girl. do you really want to tell your dad "hey dad could you get birth control pills for me? I need them!" no you wouldnt.

and once again no federal money goes to fund abortion. the hyde ammendment.
Im just fine doing things myself and no personal responsibility. the only reason republicans put the planned parent hood ryder onto the budget bill is to move forward with their social agenda. Say what you want about planned parenthood, it DOES NOT BELONG ON THE BUDGET ITS A SOCIAL ISSUE.
its not worth holding up the budget for!

Won't bother me one bit. The federal gov't has far too many employees suckling off the taxpayer without providing anything of value.

I feel for the military, law enforcement and educators, but maybe this will help rally the people to kick the bums out of Washington and start this country moving in the right direction again.

The average American has gotten fat and lazy, just like the French before Hitler invaded and steamrolled over them like Judge Doom (only they didn't pop back up).

seems odd that the only thing we hear about is military pay, health care, education, etc., when the dems are crying about money...
why don't we hear about cutting funding for the southern poverty law center? nea? cpb? the bazillions going for lunatic causes, including bridges to nowhere? just google "government agencies" and look at the list of crap we're paying for.

with all those idiot agencies we are paying for, they're telling us the place to start cutting spending is military pay, health care, education, etc., ? everything else on that list is more important than these?
