No Matter What I Just Can't Stop Doing It

What is something that you just can't stop doing no matter how many times you seem to remind yourself. My issue is when I remotely start the truck I always get in, put my foot on the brake to put it in gear and it cuts off. I always say to myself that next time I will not forget to put the key in first but I end up doing the same thing over again

Mines a stick shift, so as I'm starting the truck with my right hand I reach down to pull the ebrake release. If I sit for a minute to do something, I'll forget I pulled it so when I finish doing whatever im doing, right as I'm pushing in the clutch I always reach down and pull it again. Happens at least 2-3 times a day for me.

I use my fogs as DRLs so after I start the truck I flick those on. Same thing as above, I'll reach down to push them on after a minute but I forgot I already turned them on. And the couple times I've left them on (overnight) :o

Ever heard of Pavlov's dog? You don't have a dog named Pavlov do you???. Don't ya just hate it when that happens? I am a creature of habit and always thinking about other things while I'm driving. No, not unsafe, because I'm able to multi-task. But when my wife is with me I'm thinking about what I'm talking to her about and she has to remind me every now and then, shouldn't you turn here? I'm in the ruts in the road to somewhere else I often go (like the tool store ) and am snapped back to reality by her comment, in time to make the turn. That way I can blame her, because that never happens when she isn't with me. JK

When I get into a gas vehicle I wait for the glow plug light to turn off before I try and start it.

Hey.

It takes 28 days to make/break a habit.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.

I dunno - Post-it note on yer forehead maybe?

Or - use a Redneck PDA?

Something I do is I ALWAYS have to double check to make sure my truck is locked. Its just on OCD thing. I always get out and lock it. Then when I am about 30 feet away I unlocked it and lock it again. And when I go to bed I make sure its locked. Its nice having a remote lock/unlock or else I would go insne walking back to my truck.

On a side note, another thing I have to do every day is go in the water, whether its surfing, swimming, sitting in a hot tub etc... I get grumpy if I dont.

I have to set the radio so the volume number ends in a 0, 2, 4, 5, 6, or 8. If its on a 1, 3, 7 or 9 I get a feeling like something bad will happen, like an accident.

I lock the house door, go around back for something, pass the door and check it. Then I'll get in the car and say, "did I lock the side door?". The old lady laughs. Is that normal?

Apparently, saying what you are doing or supposed to not do before doing it cures this.

OH GOD ME TOO!

I usually do it in increments of 5, my Pioneer has a very low-intensity know so a couple of good turns to get it high

My problem is, I can't remember to lock my truck. I'm a little like D's984x4, except I remember quite a bit later, when I'm "out of range", so I have to walk back to do it. This is the first vehicle I've owned with remote lock/unlock capability, so I'm just not "attuned" to it. If pushing the driver's door lock down would lock all the doors like my "daily driver", I'd be golden, but it doesn't.

There are days I wish it would automatically lock like some other car makes I've heard about, but I don't think there's any way to make it do that.

There's something to not being able to teach an old dog new tricks, and I'm a "really old dog".

Hmmm .. sounds like a bidness opportunity - demographic = absent-minded geezers.

1.> Implant coded RFID tag into a butt-cheek.

2.> Install range-sensing auto relock module into truck. Done.

Excellent idea, my friend. I'll make an appointment at my doctor's for "field modification" (Item #1) in the near future (if I can remember to do so, that is).
