What browser?
jbrew, I think the question is What are you doing to it? It has never asked me for any personal info and yeah, there are few skins for it...like about 18 as I remember. I'm not a toolbar kinda guy so the one I have is simple blue with an address bar with a few buttons-that's it. So far this thing is miles ahead of any other ones in regards to speed. It is not 100% though. It has issues with Facebook and FB games. Forget the FB games cause they don't work. Some websites have issues with the non-dedicated storage of the browser but it just gives me a notice at the bottom of the page and keeps on going. I'm not fond of having to click on the menu to access bookmarks and maybe there is an add-on for that, I really haven't looked for one. But it is faster and the screen is a lot clearer and cleaner looking as compared to IE8 anyway. Are you getting yer download directly from the Opera site or are you downloading from a secondary site? Secondary sites will usually ask for personal info like email, etc so they can sell the info. Regardless, I'm happier with this than Chrome or Firefox but like I say, it's not 100%.
I have only ever used Internet Explorer, I have not seen any real reason/advantage to use anything else. There are enough system conflicts out there without adding to the possibilty of making any more. I have used Kaspersky AV for quite a few years and have not had any problems at all. My wife on the other hand........
Download from here -

I only download from the app/program owner. I don't do anything to it initially. I try to incorporate or import internet settings since it won't do this on it's own
- That's when it asks for this and that. Bookmarks/favorites and a few add ons. Maybe it's a Vista problem. I had enough, got rid of it again. I have 4 browsers to choose from, Firefox and chrome are the best for this machine or system.

I use firefox, and have for the last 6 years on my personal cpu's, (an old *** dell desktop and a newer acer laptop, both xp's). However, at work i have a brand new dell that has Vista and i have the newest Internet Explorer and it works just fine. As long as i have tabs im fine.
i also have about six links saved on a bar right above my tabs. The six sites i check out all the time.
I haven't read thru the 4+ pages of posts, but I've only used IE since around 1998 and it's been fine for me.... Currently been using IE 8 for the last year or so... I'm a system admin for a small CPA firm and it's all I've let anyone use and we haven't had a virus infection or issue with anything related to IE directly in the 13 years I've been working there...
Every body is so quick to poo poo MS and their software, but it's made a nice living for me, since our firm has been a MS Certified Partner and supported their software since I've worked for my firm... Sure, their licensing and partner renewal is crazy, but that's just what it is.... I hate 'em too, but I can't say I would use any other software....
I have clients that try to not use MS software, but they still have to use it for their desktop OS, and Office products... Yeah, they are using as much of non MS software as they can, but they have to go to the 'dark side' eventually...
And they still have the same problems that everyone else has with their networks....
I'm on IE right now and have been forever and it's been fine... I've tried Firefox and Chrome and after a couple of minutes, I'm back on IE... Well, that's just me... I guess I'm on the 'Dark Side' for sure...
