F-150 4x4 and Subaru Outback
For years now I've been making a couple of trips a month to the NC mountains. During the winter months we've always driven the F-150 Screw 4x4. It has always been our most sure footed vehicle in the snowy, nasty conditions of the Mts. I hate to admit it, but I have a new "go to" vehicle for the winter trips. I recently picked up a 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5xt. This vehicle has some power, plus an excellent demeanor in the snow and the gravel/dirt roads of the area.
Any other F-150 owners have a Subaru that shares the driveway?

Sure do. My wife has a '08 Legacy and has had three Foresters prior to that. Her mom has had so many I couldn't count them all. I'm not exactly a Jap car fan but these are some of the best. I mean who couldn't love AWD. We're actually taking my wifes Legacy on its first road trip to Gatlinburg, TN in a few weeks.
A buddy of mine is driving an '08 Impreza sedan. He was in a '99 Mustang GT before it. He's pretty happy with it. I believe that his lease is up in the spring and he's going to buy an Outback or Forester.
I think that Subaru makes a good car. I've driven my buddies Impreza. Never driven in snow, but it's pretty good. I think that my wifes '10 Mazda 3 hatch is more fun to drive, but not as good in snow. They are both lots more fun than driving my Edge, which is like sitting in an easy chair watching TV.

Gotta love that Edge!
My wife drives a '96 Outback. I like the AWD on our rough/steep driveway, and driving in the rain. Changing the oil is the easiest of any car I've ever worked on. I can't think of anything else I like about the car

definite truth to that statement, but the little turbo is still a blast to drive, without sacrificing bad weather handling and everyday crap hauling.

I work for Subaru and have an 05 FX4. Does that count? I know what you're talking about tho. My mom lives in NE Ohio and was looking for a new car back in 05. She wanted a small sport ute so I told her about the Forester. Before she even leaves her condo complex she has to go up 2 big hills. She says the Subie just claws it's way up the hills like it's nothing. The defroster grid on the glass where the wipers park is nice too.
