I never liked this car.
I have to agree I love the old ones. I wouldn't sneeze at either one, I'd drive either like I stole it.

Kobi..I've always loved the Mustang. Have owned 4 of them so far. I would give my left arm for a GT500 or better yet, the Boss 302.

It does say alot about how far Ford has come over the past few years compared to were it was, even in 2007. Ford is making great strides.http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html
I am sure the GT500 isn't much worse.
I certainly ain't no Chevy fan boy, but the Shelby GT500 is a **** poor performer for the money.

A Corvette is a sports car and not really directly comparable. Two different types of rides, ones a sports car in every true sense of the word and the other is a good ole fahion muscle car

We have a winner!!!
The Z06 is a beast
Your comments compared this Ford to Fords of old. Which is fine, and certainly legitimate. I mentioned the brands I did because I have experience with them, they have always been a point of reference for me and they have served as a benchmark that I use to judge. You brought up one point of view, I another.
However, if you want to compare apples to apples and use the SRT8, okay.
I wanted an SRT8. Went gaga over it when it first came out. Test drove it like crazy. Wanted it even more . . . until I started following owners forums and such and found out that mechanically, it was a nightmare.
But as for interiors... The seats in the SRT8 are nicer, more comfortable. The SRT8 is roomier. A tad more headroom (which is important for me as I'm fairly tall). I'm just barely hitting the ceiling of the GT500 with my head and that's with the seat tilted back. Not the most comfortable for long distance driving. SRT8 has more shoulder and hip room.
Beyond the seats, however, it's no contest. The GT500 wins hands down.
Feel better?

[Side note: I've already started reading owners forums for the 2010 and 2011 Shelby GT500. So far, the only common problem is with the transmission and the grind between 1&2. (seems to be exclusive with the Shelby) Time will tell if there are other things, but for now the Shelby is lookin' good]
The GT does about equal to the M3:

BUT . . . they were also of the same opinion that for those very same reasons, it didn't matter, it was "hella" fun to drive (as the kids these days say).
As for the M3 thing . . . based on the one I drove (a 2010), I'd have a hard time believing that, however, I have also read, and viewed on one of the aforementioned videos, that the 2011 model went aluminum with the block which saved over 100 lbs so it's not so nose heavy, and I believe there were tweaks to the springs and struts and shocks that improved handling considerably. Maybe.

When talking handling, it's pretty hard to compare a broadsword (Shelby) to a scalpel (sports car).
If you need a scalpel, a broadsword is just not going to the job, no matter how sharp it is.
But if you are a broadsword kind of guy, you care not what a trained surgeon can do with a scalpel.
To take the analogy in another direction, you should not compare a cow to a ferret, as this will only annoy the pig.

Isnt a mustang a horse?
have you seen any of the reviews on the 11 stangs? It blows everything out of the water in the handling department
I wouldn't say that. But, it is pretty damn good for a live axle car, which is fine by the way, as it can smokes many IRS vehicles and makes a fool of the Camaro and Challengers.
To the OP, if you want a German sports car, go get one. That isn't the competition for a Mustang, GT 500 or F-150. Get a freaking clue.
