New boots

I really need a new pair of boots, prefer steel toe.
Been looking at these, but was wondering what others had/have used before and liked.

http://www.rangerjoes.com.ypcnproxy....058cffd5df9453

Would prefer to stay under $100.
Water proof is nice.
comfort is also important.
No low cut/low tops.

Thanks!

Kind of, they are missing a few of the things I want in a boot, but also come off in a snap with the side zipper.
The look like they could be comfortable though.

These look to fit my wants, and also to be a good boot.

These here are the real deal though, but they are also $165

Out of the price range, BUT if you are on your feet alot, spring for a comfortable pair. And out of the several pairs I have owned, I found these to be the most comfortable pair. I was surprised because I had owned Justin's and Rocky's in my life. (I'd never buy a another set of Justin's)

Take a good look at the Timberland Pro line.

I had a set of those in tan, served me well over in Kuwait. After 6 months of 14 hour days they wore pretty well, I finally got rid of them after about 2 years due to one of the heels finally breaking.

My Rockies got attcked this summer by Zackious (aka 'The Dog") and I replaced them with some Red Wings. Honestly, I liked the Rockies better than my new RW's. Not to mention the RW's where almost double the cost of my Rockies.

I wore some Hi-Techs, but they're prolly out of your price range. The boots in the OP aren't ANSI z-41 safety toed.

I own a pair of Justin's, Rocky's, and Tony Lama TLX Wester Works. The Tony Lamas were water proof and steel toe. Heavy, but kept my feet dry and safe. They were the most comfortable, but the soles wore out the fastest. The Justin's were comfortable but you have the notorious problem of the boot rolling off the sole. That is due to not having the arch supports and other supports of similiar boots like the Ariat's and Tony Lama's. From what I understand, Tony Lama and Rocky's are made by the same parent company as Ariat's or Ariat themselves, not sure which. Ariats will be my next pair of boots. Another bonus of the Ariats are they use a composite toe as opposed to a steel toe.
These will be my next casual boots

And will probably get a pair for work also. These will be the work pair.

I work in Environmental Construction so my boots get put through their paces.

When buying boots/footwear, it's kind of like buying a motorcycle helmet. You don't skimp out on the purchase because you truely get what you pay for.

This may be an excellent buy. Waterproof to the tongue, not all the way.

I second the Timberland Pros. I am on my 4th or 5th pair. Very comfortable and hold up well. Anothe one I really like was Converse, but I haven't been able to find in my size lately.
This place has a pretty good list of what is available, but prices are a little high.

I would stay away from bates. I've had a few pairs of bates boots and I've torn them up.

I'm currently using 5.11 tactical. They're safety toe, water proof, light, but they don't have a side zip. I solved that problem by putting those lace up zippers in them. They're a bit pricey though at about $150.

http://www.511tactical.com/browse/Ho...:20505/I/12201

My regular day to day boots are timberland pro series. I've had them about 3 years and they're the most comfortable boot I've ever owned. The sole is just starting to wear down. They were around $100.

Boots are one thing that I will spend money on. Jeans, jackets, clothes, I try to pinch pennies. But when it comes to boots, I don't have a problem dropping some money.

Stay Clear

Those are the exact boots that the Air Force has been issuing us. Except ours are green...

They look REALLY goofy, we call them Moon Boots...

And they really dont last that long, I only had mine 8 months before the insides started ripping out.

I with the guys that say Redwings. They make an extremely comfortable bot, and they have steel toes.

I have just about settled on these.

http://www.originalswat.com/productd...tegory_id=MTM=

It has about everything I want
Water proof, Insulated and slip resistant, the zipper is a big bonus.

I normally wear boots year round and I need something I can be sure is not going to give up on me.
I never know when Ill end up shoveling snow, or in the mud at the track.

Thoughts on these?
