But, if you're making $50,000.00- and paying 23%- Now you have $38,000 to work with. If they raise your taxes by $2,200 a year (the way it's lining up right now)- that could potentially impact your livelihood. But, if you take another $450,000 from Poindexter making $10,000,000, he's still bringing $5,550,000.00 home. He's not eating sardines & crackers for dinner, that's for sure.

I'm not mad at rich people. I hope to be one, one day. But, I'm just saying, if you've got broader shoulders- you should be carrying a porportionally heavier load. I think that's what the President (who would also be impacted financially by these changes) is trying to do.

Heck, even with the Bush tax cuts, unemployment is at nearly historic levels. With the cuts in place, if rich folks create jobs, why aren't they hiring? It's corporations that hire the most people, but few will believe that.

I guarantee you more people work for Wal-Mart, than work for Larry's Fish & Tackle.
Your last statement proves my previous post.

Let it go- or, at least be truthful...

I think people don't think Santa Claus, or the President of the United States, should be anything other than what it has been historically. Come on, just say it... It'll make you feel better...

I'll help- just say the magic word...

I don't the the President of the United States should be anything other than a ________ man. Or, he should at least have the decency to be a _______ person.

(Same word in both blanks).

--------------------

Folks try to come up with all this BS of why he shouldn't be president, when in reality- he's doing no worse than Bush did, and Bush is the one who put us in all this mess.

I think the real reason is because of his skin color. Even if his name were Author Miller, and folks would still be thinking up BS reasons why he shouldn't be president.

Well, uh- he didn't go to an Ivy League school (He did)... That's why he shouldn't be president.

Well, uh- water doesn't wet his hair like it does mine. That's why he shouldn't be president.

Well, uh- he drinks his coffee with his left hand, rather than his right. That's why he shouldn't be president.

Just tell the truth. I mean, "Liberal" is the new "N" word anyway- at least around here it is. May as well go all the way.
I agree with everything BH says here. Still flogging the "not born in the US" thing, when that notion has been completely discredited and even the GOP in congress (the sane ones anyway) don't buy into that crap. The haters call him a secret muslim (and don't forget to emphasize that his middle name is Hussein!!) and not American because they know darn well if they say anything overtly about his skin tone they would be howled at by everyone except the other haters. BTW, John McCain wasn't born in the US, but no one ever says anything about that.

I personally think Obama has been a huge disappointment and I hope the Dems can come up with someone better for the next election.

regards

A certification of live birth and a certificate of birth are two different things.

certification: proves that the child was born, and the residency of the parents

certificate: proves where the child was born, as well as the residency of the parents.

also, remember some of the biggest proponents of the birth certificate stuff were democrats.

and finally, what the **** do we care what an athlete or celebrity has to say about politics. they can say what they want, doesn't mean we have to care.

I guess it only works one way for you folks...

I didn't have a problem personally with the Dixie Chicks speaking their mind. Again, I honestly wish more people would speak up and not be afraid of something happening to them. Every person, regardless of party affiliation has the right to an opinion. Your fellow peers have the choice of whether or not to agree or disagree.

As I stated in my original reply, with the exception of the whole "birthplace argument", I agree with Scott on his remarks about the other subjects.

But on a final note, no matter who or what holds the office of the President of the US, even if you don't respect the person, you should respect the position. That is one thing I have a problem with people. Obama has some good ideas, but most of them have yet to be implemented IMO.

Obama has released his birth certificate
http://msgboard.snopes.com/politics/graphics/birth.jpg
Snopes has a good article on the birth certificate falsehood.

What we need to happen is Republicans to do there job-what they got elected for and cut spending. Obama and the Democrats needs to do one of the things they promised and raise taxes on the rich. The country's real economic problem is the DEFICIT. The recent bargain to keep all the tax cuts and continue the out of control spending is just more of what we've had for the last 10 years. We have a bunch of cowards in Washington and they don't seem to be getting the message. Sack up. Make each other fight for what they want. Stop caving in doing the safe thing. Do whats right.

quoting snopes is like quoting wikipedia. snopes is a few people, i believe a husband and wife and some friends, who run a website from their house and answer questions... he has not released a 'birth certificate'. he released a 'certification of live birth' which is a completely different document. A traditional 'birth certificate' has the location of birth and a physicians' signature. a certification of live birth just verifies that a parent who is a resident of the state of issue had a child. doesn't mean he was born in the state.

It's always the 800 pound gorilla in the room around here.
But:
"I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawai'i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai'i State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai'i and is a natural-born American citizen," Fukino said in a statement. "I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008, over eight months ago"

I also agree that quoting snopes is like quoting wikipedia, you need to triple check their sources.

Every birth certificate I've ever seen has a Dr.'s signature.

I really don't know where the guy was born, but when his own grandmother says he was born in Kenya....

Then there's also this: http://web.archive.org/web/200406271...ws26060403.htm

Also, if he had been born a few years earlier, he wouldn't have been in a state in the US, but a territory, because up until 1959, the US consisted of 48 states. Hawaii and Alaska were then made states in 1959. I don't know how that all works, can someone born in a US territory such as Puerto Rico become President?

Obama is the President period. Those allegation have been brought up there were even 2 lawsuits and there just isnt evidence to prove he was born anywhere but the USA.
Maybe you all ought a ask yourself s how a guy like him could get elected. I'll clue you in. The reason was George Bush did such horrible job ANY democrat they put on the ticket could get elected. Thats the reason we have Obama. Thank George Bush. Let just hope the country can survive George Bush and then Obama.

Bush only killed himself over in his last term, mainly because of the whole Iraq War.

I honestly believe the only reason Obama was able to win was the following:

This was the largest turn out of younger generation voters in history. I personally believe the ONLY reason Obama won was because young people in today's society saw they had to a chance to make history by electing the first "African-American" President in US history. They didn't give a crap what he "promised" or what he was running for, they just wanted to be a part of the group to be put in the history books. That's IT. And now a lot of them are regreting not paying attention to what they were doing.

And the reason I put African American in quotation was because of the fact that Obama is only half black, the other half white, and was raised by a Korean father, because his own dad wasn't man and bailed on him and his mother.

So in essence, I believe he was elected because of the color of his skin. You can bash me for this all you want to, but it's more than likely the truth.

No, he got elected because he did what all Democrats do - promise all the deadbeats that he'll take care of them.
