I'm back... (Behind the wheel of a FS Ford)

Well, after 18 months of being out of a Ford Full size truck of some sort, we are back. I wanted to get a used 7-series BMW to accompany our 5, but the wife was adamant that we needed something with 3-rows of seats.

I was very tempted to get a 2008 Sequoia, or the 2006 Infiniti QX56, but I went back the next day to see the QX56 in the sunlight (It was a rainy day when we went shopping), and I ended up getting a 2007 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer, 5.4L.

I didn't think I wanted a 3rd Expedition, but #3 is very nice. I'm loving it.
I bought it from CarMax with 41,000 miles on it. Added the warranty coverage to 125,000 miles- so we're set. Also lowered my monthly car note by nearly $200, so I'm pretty happy at this point.

When you've seen one Expy, you've seen them all- but I'll post pics when I get a chance to. I've had it about a week now, but just got a chance to pop in and say hi.

Take it easy guys & gals.

I hope so too. I'm liking the CarMax experience so far. This is the second car I've bought from them, and the 3rd one in our family.

None of the typical BS you deal with at new car dealerships, and I like that. Plus you can get a better warranty with a used car than you can with a brand new one, so that's cool too. Only thing we're missing is that new car smell! LOL

I'm in my 30-day review window, wherein anything you find wrong with the vehicle, CarMax fixes at no charge to you, or sends to the manufacturer/dealership to repair.

So, I went over that joker as if it was a military inspection. I'll be turning it in soon for some little things- the biggest thing being what seems like warped front rotors on the brakes. Once I get it back, if she's anything like my previous two Expeditions, she should be ready for years of trouble-free action.

Can't wait to get it tinted, put my wheels on it, (although it came with factory 20" wheels, but my tires are wider) and all the trimmings.

Hersh-Meister!!!!!!!™

Dude! I was thinking about you when I got rid of my Lexus and bought a . . . are you sitting down? . . .

Nissan Xterra.

I thought, as I was negotiating the deal . . . "What would Hersh think about this?"

I was off this site for about two years and just popped in a couple of months ago. (Was going to make it a brief stay but the amount of insanity (read idiocy) here is just too entertaining.)

The reasons for the Xterra are many, but you'll be happy to know I'm thinking of trading it in for a G-Wagen.

You have been missed.

Welcome back.....

How many rugrats have you got? I only have one, and have never felt a need for anything bigger than the wife's Escape up to this point. He's only 4 right now, so maybe that will change as he gets older, but so far so good.....

What's up Kobi?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Once you start reading some of this stuff, you can't help but hang around for a minute!
Congrats on the X-Terra. When we went to CarMax, we left the house with the intent of buying a Pathfinder LE, but I let myself get up-sold to a full size SUV.
G-Wagen, now- that's more the Kobi I know! LOL

I think about you every time I see a "6" series on the street.

-------------------------

Ddellwo, What's going on?

I still only have the one rug rat, but I'm still an active participant in the raising of two other kids (8 & 3).
So, with 2 cars seats, my son's friends, and other relatives that usually around, the Edge got small quick.
I still love the Edge though, and will miss it when I have to lease return it on 11/30.

Glad to have you back with us Hersh! As I recall, you once said there's a reason you have a screenname that starts with "Big" (and it wasn't because you're a little feller). Makes sense to me that you'd want a man-sized vehicle.

I'm reminded of something General Daniel "Chappie" James once said when he was asked how he was able to fit into the ****pit of his F-4? He replied something like: "I don't 'fit' in, I just strap it on".

And I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your contributions to the madness. Very entertaining indeed. The pomposity level had dropped off to almost nothing during your absence.
