he's not going to sell it, but he is trying to say instead of taking the $2,800 check from insurance, to pocket it for living expenses, school, etc and keep the truck the way it is but theres no way im doing that. once i save a little bit I AM going to find out how to get my 18 mpg back so I can drive it again
It looks like your 'accident' only caused cosmetic damage, that's to say, spending $2,800 from the insurance company on getting your truck to look nice again won't help any of the mechanical/electrical/whatever problems are causing your low MPG.
I promise you, in 3 years when you're done with school and have a job that pays halfway decent, you aren't going to want your old, beat up, low MPG getting, high mileage truck anymore. If you even still have it, you're gonna end up wanting to sell it for one of those new 2014-15 model F150s.
Take a look at your post again and think about what the smart decision really would be. You've talked about your Dad on here a couple times, he doesn't sound like he's stupid so maybe you should start listening to what he has to say. Not because you have to any more, but because he might actually have a good idea now and again.

i was going through a green, he was headed the opposite direction and tried to make a u-turn in front of me. he claimed he had a yellow and didnt see me
but the guy behind him said he had a red turn arrow. but he admitted fault and was cited by the officer who responded
