Ford Unveils Three Supercharger Options for 2011 Mustang 5.0

http://wot.motortrend.com/6678827/af...-50/index.html

The Ford Racing team has taken the wraps off three different aftermarket supercharger options for the 412-horsepower Mustang GT.

The three blower kits are 50-state-legal and are good for different levels of boosted power. The nine-psi option helps develop up to 624 horsepower on premium-octane fuel, while the lower model does 525 horsepower on seven psi. The supercharger is a twin-screw design and comes with requisite support modifications, including a new intake manifold, intercooler, belt, and higher-flowing fuel injectors.

The third option is a Tuner Kit for racers and what Ford calls "extreme enthusiasts." There is no power figure associated with this selection, so we figure the ultimate performance numbers are left to the Mustang's owner. The forced-induction trio are being revealed at the Woodward Dream Cruise and are available now.

"Superchargers are the ultimate in power upgrades for Mustang enthusiasts," says George Goddu, Ford Racing Performance Group Manager. "Calibration for a modern V8 engine, especially one with twin-independent variable cam timing, is incredibly complex. Production calibration for the 5.0 engine took 19 months. Having that knowledge base to work from is a huge advantage."

The specifications are listed below:

The Ford Racing Supercharger 525hp Kit (M-6066-MGT525D) includes:
-- 2.3L twin-screw supercharger assembly
-- Intake manifold
-- Complete air-to-liquid intercooler system
-- Drive belt
-- 47 lb./hr., high-impedance fuel injectors (M-9593-LU47)
-- Ford Racing ProCal tool with performance calibration
-- 12 month /12,000 mile warranty (when installed by a Ford or Lincoln dealer)
-- Produces 525 SAE hp @ 6400 rpm and 470 SAE lb.-ft. @ 4200 rpm, at
approximately 7 psi of boost with 93 octane fuel
-- MSRP $7,199.00 (black) and $7,799.00 (polished chrome)

The Ford Racing Supercharger 624hp Kit (M-6066-MGT624D) includes:
-- 2.3L twin-screw supercharger assembly
-- Intake manifold
-- Complete air-to-liquid intercooler system
-- Drive belt
-- 47 lb./hr., high-impedance fuel injectors (M-9593-LU47)
-- Ford Racing ProCal tool with performance calibration
-- Produces 624 SAE hp @ 6900 rpm and 536 SAE lb.-ft. @ 4700 rpm, at approximately 9 psi of boost with 93 octane fuel
-- MSRP $7,499.00 (black) and $8,099.00 (polished chrome)

The Ford Racing Supercharger Tuner Kit (M-6066-MGT23TD) includes:

That was the first thing I noticed - no warranty on the 9psi version.

Everyone would spend the extra $300 for the 624 horse version if it had a warranty.

Yes please!!!! I would love a 5.0 with a superchatger on it.

I am still debating slapping one on my 07 once I pay it off. It either that or putting the money towards a 56 F100.

Forget the GT 500. I love my 2011 and the 5.0 is a remarkable engine. I will either buy a base GT to add to the stable with one of these or go with the Boss 302.
