"SAN ANGELO, Texas — A San Angelo man appearing for court Wednesday morning at the Tom Green County Justice Center emptied his pockets into a plastic bin — keys, change and a plastic bag filled with what officers believed was illegal drugs.
Sgt. Jose Gutierrez, with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, said he was called to the center about 9:30 a.m. about the incident. He tested the substance in the bag, which turned out to be methamphetamine.
Freddrick Roblez, 35, was booked into the Tom Green County jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than one gram.
“At first he said, ‘These aren’t my pants,’” Gutierrez said. “That’s not the first time I’ve heard that.”
Gutierrez said Roblez was showing up for a court appearance on a driving while intoxicated charge.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A local mechanic escaped injury Monday morning after he drove a vehicle into Lake Nasworthy, San Angelo Police said Tuesday morning.
The man was test driving a Chevy Avalanche he had been working on when the crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. Police said he was eastbound in the 6400 block of Knickerbocker Road talking on his cell phone when he dropped the phone and bent down to pick it up.
Authorities said he crossed two lanes of traffic and drove into the lake near the old WTU power plant. The driver was uninjured, but the vehicle was damaged from being submerged in water.
