Photoshoot with '49 F-1

So I sold the 1949 F-1 yesterday, guy picked it up this morning. Really sad to see it go. I don't often get emotional, but this one had a lot of history with me and my dad. We picked it up from a guy in Valencia, guy had a huge field of cars and trucks. We got it for $300 (this was back in like '92). My dad and brother and I helped restore it (we were young at the time, but we did what we could), but anywho, here are some pictures with my truck right before it went off. We're going to use the proceeds to hopefully get into a '32 Roadster, so on to the next

Looks like you guys did a really good job on the restoration and took good care of the truck.
Looking forward to seeing the car when its done.

Thanks guys.

Well, we weren't driving it much, kinda hard to get the ol' girl moving on the streets around here where the speed limit is 50. So we decided to move on and start a new project. probably won't be for a few years, still need to get outta school and get a full time job, but tentative plans are for an all new, lowered chassis, Wescott roadster body, and a Ford 302 to keep a Ford in a Ford

Nooo!!
Shouldve kept it my friend. My dad and I restored a '53 Chevy half ton and I dont know what I would do if all the sudden it were gone. Those old trucks are so much fun and you take so much pride in something that you fix up and drive yourself.

Did your F-1 have a 6 or the flathead V8? I really want a 48-51 F-1 with the V-8 and 4 speed one day...

ha ha ha, well hopefully I won't agree with you down the road. They are a lot of fun, but it's time to make new memories, we've always wanted a roadster. It had the 6 with three on the tree.

it was hard for someone to look over your work and try to hammer you on the price, that's what sucked the most. we didn't make it perfect, we did it all ourselves--well, my dad mostly, but I helped where I could-- and except for upholstering the bench.

thanks man.
Dude, that's a bit of a ways off. my next project might be to do some de-chroming, I've got a bumper waiting in the wings that I need to do some body work on, among other things.
I can't decide what wheels I want to get anyways. I've been going between 20" 01-02 Lightnings powdercoated flat black, 03-04 Lightnings, BC Smoothie II type 20's, or True Forged Mesh 20's in either polished or satin, or maybe the TF in all black... Too many choices
I really like the deep dish style wheels, but the lightning wheels are sweet, and cheaper. just don't want my truck to look like a cheap lightning wannabe.

I'd have a hard time selling something like that -- especially with the family history involved. I've seen a few late-50's era Ford trucks with that light blue paint (usually in a two-tone combo with white) and have always thought that was the color I would want to go with if I built a truck from that era......

thanks guys, I'm starting to have second thoughts

well, not really, but I do miss it. The color was just something my brother and I picked out, we must have been like ten years old or so at the time. It's almost a Carolina blue

Last generation lightning wheels would look siiiiick on your ride. Who cares about your truck being a lightning wannabe...your just about at the same HP as them.

yeah man, those would be sick, but can't decide whether 20's and a soft lip would look better... if they made 20" 03-04 replicas I'd be set...
