Build a plane in 2 minutes

Boeing made a video of the 737 "Florida One" being built and painted. Pretty neat.

Nice. Most people have on idea what it takes to build a plane of that magnitude.

Neat fact: the paint on that plane (primer, acrylic, and clear) take up about 700 lbs.

Yes... you can pick it up at any local hobby shop of your choice.

I think that is a pretty conservative number too! A complex paint job like Florida one and others by southwest weigh a bunch more. If you re-paint an airplane you have to have the aircraft re-certified. Imagine what the paint job on a 747 or A380 weigh.

I don't know about "Recertified" but for smaller planes you certainly do need a new weight and balance to maintain legality. I might strip my plane down here soon, I've been looking at some pretty neat designs for it, maybe give its 45+ year old skin something new to wear

I really like this design, but with blue instead of red as the primary.

He passed away ten years ago at the age of 36 during a flight from the bahamas.

Thats pretty much what I ment. You need to take it to an A&P and have them 're-certify' the empty weight and such. Might have been the wrong word. I like that paint scheme. I wonder if you took it to an A&P school if they would paint it cheaper than normal?? Keep me updated.

Well legally speaking, a pilot can strip and paint an airplane under the FARs as "pilot preventive maintenance" (except balanced control surfaces; ie- rudder, ailerons, etc). And to get the control surfaces painted, you can do them yourself with an A&P watching, and have him sign off on it, kinda like pilot-assisted annuals to save money and learn more about the plane.

My best friend's uncle owns this beauty:

He did the paint himself, so we were thinking to taking the Cherokee to him and have him do it.
