I have had my share of bad things happen on Craigs list. I supposedly bought a hunting lease or put a deposite on it, and after driving out to the property found out the guy used to rent the place. The neighbor said he owed everyone money, and I was the second guy to come by looking for the lease.

Also supposedly bought tickets from a church group, sent money, and got nothing in return. We have learned to only do buisness locally. I sold my Chrome 18" lariat wheels on CL, and several other items. We learned our lesson.

All in all it is a good site, just have to be careful, and never send money. Meet them in person.

Bad idea to do money transfers, person-to person is the only way unless you know for a fact you're not going to get ripped off which it is pretty unlikely you will know.

I've had a little bad luck on CL...but LOTS of good luck. Bought and sold many things. Found apartments and houses. Haven't found a new job there yet, though.

Keep it cash and keep it face-to-face.

Craigslist never caught on around here, but we have an equivalent called Kijiji. I've had pretty good luck mostly with it. Bought cars, sold a car, bought a tent trailer, found apartments, etc.

As for bad stuff, well, a guy put an ad up for a transmission and I happened to have one so I tried calling. Buddy won't answer his phone! Oh well, his loss.

Almost got a set of 18" SVT wheels for $150 but the guy never got back to me on it.

Sold my topper and various parts of my 98 front end because of it.

I've had alot of good luck buying and selling things on CL. You just have to learn to look out for the scammers and spammers. Alot of bots on there. You can usually spot the spammers real easy. They will have a $30,000 truck on there listed for $10,000. When you email them they get your address and fill your inbox up with spam. I also learned not to put my phone number in all numbers. I usually spell some of the numbers. The bots on there scan the ads and will detect your number and the next thing you know you have people calling you wanting you to use their "service" to help you sell your item. You just have to know that if its too good to be true, it probably is. If something sounds too fishy, it probably is.

Bought a set of almost new Nitto TGs for $300 on CL. I like it but I only deal locally as well. Cash talks.

The bad part is, it is not big in my area and I have to go out side of the area most are an hour or two drive so it is alittle frustrating. It is good reading though while bored.

Ive bought and sold a few things on CL.

The one that pissed me off was the guy that called me about the stock wheels off my truck and set up a time to come buy them and never showed up. Since he called from a blocked number I couldnt call him back. I wasted two hours waiting for him that night and never heard from him.
I did end up selling the wheels to somebody else though.

I bought the wheels on my truck on CL for $150 with tires although the tires were shot (I knew that).

Looks like the deal on the tuner was legit and it looks like one of our fellow f150online brothers is going to be the proud owner. Like I told him it was my fault for reacting the way I did but hey we all have our ways and I didn't care for his manners of answering.

Good luck and hope the tuner works out for ya.
