Does anyone else picture Raoul as the old guy sitting at the General Store next to another grizzly looking old guy playing checkers and making up stories about "The Big War" and "I walked 15 miles to school in the snow, uphill, both ways..." and such?

Hell, I'm only 19. But who the hell cares if his dad wants him to have that card with that limit and build his credit? It seems to me alot of these posts are out of reaction and not response. I have a student loan in my name that my dad is paying off for me so I can build my credit. Woopty freakin do! It's not that uncommon for parents to do that so the kid can come out ahead of the game with a chance!

Btw, for all of the "mature" adults on here, it's not considered weird for kids our age to argue on the internet. In fact, it's pretty common. But for some of the people on here who are the "mature" adults, it's considered pathetic, please grow up. But I guess that's asking alot if your 45 years old sitting at the computer getting mad over an 18 year old's post. G'night everybody, and Merry Christmas!
I appreciate this explanation. Now I understand that when a younger person is being a smartass, I need to just smile and think to my self, he/she is just doing what is expected of them and all is well, but if I see a 45 year old doing the same thing I need to chastise him/her and if they don't stop, I can ban them. This will make it real simple, just need everyone to enter their age on their profile.

Guy's if you are 45, absolutly no more arguing, you're just pathetic! If you're 40, I would suggest you start practicing for when you turn 45.

That was a flat out lie, and he was called out on it. If you haven't noticed yet, most people around here don't like being lied to, and can spot these lies and will raise the BS flag.

Actually that is fairly uncommon. Let me clue you in to something, no matter what your parents tell you, or what you may personally believe, you do not DESERVE to have your parents pay your student loans. They're doing it because they care about you and want to give you what they can and they've got the money to do so. Consider yourself extremely lucky, there are a lot of people who can't afford to pay their kids way through school. Although, based on your "whoopty freaking do" comment, I take it you aren't grateful at all. If you actually deserved to have your college paid for, you'd have a scholarship of some kind.

By the way, I paid my way though school (student loans and working), along with the vast majority of my friends and I think we all came out with just as good of a "chance" as anyone else. Would I like to have my student loans paid off, of course. Is the couple hundred a month I'm paying now breaking my bank account, of course not.

I don't think any one got mad, but we'll all take your 19 year old tongue lashing to heart and "grow up".

You totally missed the point, again. No sympathy was being asked for, and none should be given. He was simply pointing out that many young people are on their own, and most of them seem to manage just fine without a $50k credit card. Even if it means taking on a higher interest rate for a loan, you aren't relying on anyone but yourself. I think people are forgetting how to do that with each passing day.

From the type of respones on here, I think "upset" and "mad" are close in the same.

And where do you come off thinking you have the right to tell me what I do and do not deserve? Just because I didn't mention my LIFE scholarship doesn't mean I dont have one. Between my loan and my scholarship, my parents do NOT pay anything out of pocket for my school other than the monthly payment on the loan. By the way there scooter, before you get keyboard happy again, I take over loan payments once I'm finished with school. He's paying the monthly payment until then.

Again, if were calling people out of the decisions they make, then how smart is paying a 10.5% interest on a $25,000+ truck ESPECIALLY if you're on your own and still in school??? It's not a question of if he can do it, it's a question of how smart is it when you're still in school and the best rate you get is 10.5%? If he's paying it all himself, more power to him. But paying insurance, tax, tag, title, gas, and money for mods while you're in school is a bit questionable as to whether that's the whole story. You said people can call bull**** easily on here.

And I guess I'm an ungrateful spoiled brat working 40 hours a week as a fulltime student so I don't have to ask my parents for money. Even though I maintain a 3.8 GPA, and maintain a relationship with my girlfriend who goes to school 2 hours away... You're right man, I don't deserve any of it.

Exactly! See? I'm a good smartass!

And good call on the age post, it would let everyone know the exact percentage of whether or not the post they're about to read will **** them off or not

****-Off Scale by Age:

18-22....95% you'll be pissed off
23-30....72% you'll be pissed off
30-40....50% you'll be pissed off
40-Older....22.3% you'll be pissed off

Again, everyone remember these are only averages. Meaning some posts vary.

Now excuse me, I need to go take my Calc2 final..be back in a little while.

I don't even think anyone is upset here. Except maybe you. And Raptor, since he lost his wallet. Most of us are just having an amusing discussion and, even though he's pretty ridiculous sometimes, hoping that Raptor gets everything squared away.

That doesn't change anything I said. Why are your parents are paying on a student loan while you're in school? Most student loans have deferred payments till you graduate. If you didn't take over the loans when you graduate, you'd just be freeloading off your parents. I don't think anyone thinks you taking over the payments after graduation is anything special, it's simply the right thing to do. Regardless, you're still extremely lucky that your parents are willing, and able, to support you like they are. You should be grateful, there are more people than you can count who would kill to be in your position.

I never said anything about calling people out for making smart or dumb decisions. I said we call out BS. I don't think anyone said taking a 10%+ interest rate was smart, but the poster is accountable only to himself. If he can swing that, then more power to him. When I graduated I had built up a couple grand in credit card debt, was that smart? Absolutely not. I had only myself to blame, and I was not a burden on anyone else. Having to pay all that off, I learned I had to be responsible with my money, something I didn't learn while in high school, living with my parents.

You can be the judge and jury on how "smart" a decision is. You've had plenty of time to hone your abilities.

So you can do it, but he can't? You did say that your parents are not paying for anything other than the loan payment, didn't you?

You're 100% right on one thing, you don't deserve any of it. It sounds more like you've worked for it and earned it. Huge difference between the two.

If I argue with a 19 year old idiot is it Ok if I am 44 or am I still pathetic? Or am I only pathetic if I argue with other "mature" adults?
I am getting confused with these new forum etiquette rules.

Until I am told differently, I'm going to say you will be semi-pathetic. Kind of like being a little bit pregnant.

Ok, I think I will change my age in my profile to 17 so I can argue all I want and it will be OK. They will think I am cool.

The bald spot might spoil the illusion though.

Sounds as if a picture ID is going to be necessary, too. This is getting complicated and it was supposed to simplify everything. Why does that always happen?

Interest charges start when the money is received.
There is an option to pay interest only.

So that if you borrow $10,000, when you graduate the balance will still be $10,000 rather than $10,000 plus interest to start.

Some parents opt to do that.

I understand how that works, I've got several of my own loans, with the interest earned while in school. Too bad it took until my last year to get my first grant!

My point was that even though payments aren't required, his parents are being generous enough to pay the interest on his loan while he's in school. He's lucky and should appreciate what they're doing for him, and not just "whoopty doo".

I just hope raptor ain't putting college on that credit card.

And how do you buy $300 worth of ice cream?
I can't even carry $300 worth of ice cream.
Didn't the DQ clerk get suspicious when he rang it up?
"Uh, let's see...that will be $300 dollars please."
