• Sec. 202 (p. 91-92) of the bill requires you to enroll in a "qualified plan." If you get your insurance at work, your employer will have a "grace period" to switch you to a "qualified plan," meaning a plan designed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. If you buy your own insurance, there's no grace period. You'll have to enroll in a qualified plan as soon as any term in your contract changes, such as the co-pay, deductible or benefit.

• Sec. 224 (p. 118) provides that 18 months after the bill becomes law, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will decide what a "qualified plan" covers and how much you'll be legally required to pay for it.

• Sec. 412 (p. 272) says that employers must provide a "qualified plan" for their employees and pay 72.5% of the cost, and a smaller share of family coverage, or incur an 8% payroll tax. Small businesses, with payrolls from $500,000 to $750,000, are fined less.

• Secs. 2521 and 2533 (pp. 1379 and 1437) establishes racial and ethnic preferences in awarding grants for training nurses and creating secondary-school health science programs

We should be so lucky.

Hundreds of thousands or even millions of more jobs lost will be closer to the truth if this Obamanation becomes law.

How is any of this 'reform' supposed to help the country?? Is it to get "Judy Crack *****" insured health care?? Is it to get families with way too many kids insured health care?? Is it to keep all the terminally ill breathing longer so families and insurance companies has to pay more and drain their bank accounts??

I don't get this at all? I'm covered by company medical where they are paying probably $500 or more a month for me.. I have to contribute $60 a month to this too.. I also contribute to Medicare and SS to the tune of over $5,000 a year.... I give over $6,000 a year in FDIC taxes... Then I OWE about $500 at Tax Time! Yet, I maybe see my Doctor once every FIVE YEARS!! I haven't even had a cold in over 10 years.....

Since when did medical insurance become a RIGHT in this country?? Hell, from what I see, if you are an illegal alien, you have better health care support in the US then a US born citizen that does not have 'medical insurance'.....

If this country is so concerned about the US Citizens 'right to health care', then deal with it at the core of the expense..... Why does it cost you or the insurance company $5.00 for a band aid or a Q-Tip or $1000 a day for a 'death watch' over a terminally ill patient??

Don't get me wrong... I totally feel for the terminally ill.. I've seen my grand parents suffer thru weeks of dying AT HOME with my Mother doing the majority of the care... I've seen my Wifes parents die at home with my Wifes care and other family members caring for them.... Other family members have done this for YEARS, yet there is no HOPE of quality of life for these family members... Yet we all must bear the burden of prolonging this suffering....

I don't know where I'm going with this, but I have it written in my Will that there is to absolutely be NO life sustaining medical effort to keep me artificially alive with zero hope of recovery.... It's only going to be a drain on my family and a drain on society if this is allowed to continue.... My wish is to go like my last surviving Grandfather did... One day he was fine, he went to bed and just didn't wake up... Lived 87 wonderful and useful years and didn't have to have anyone wipe anything from him....

I feel that if you can't afford to support the size or your family, then you shouldn't have that large of a family.... Decide if you can or can't provide your family with the basic needs they need or don't have a family.... IMO, the general public and society as a whole are ignorant and 'expect' to be taken care of by their Government, hence, the USA is where it is today..... Kids of today and even those of several decades ago 'expect' to be given EVERYTHING and NOT have to work for it and wonder why they have to do anything to get ahead in this world..

I was spoiled as a child compared to my Fathers child hood, yet he somehow got it thru my spoiled brat brain that nothing comes for nothing and if you don't work your *** off and care for yourself, then no one else is going to do it for you....

I've rambled on for way too long and probably upset some that has gone this far in reading, but the last thing I am going to say is that I've gotten all that I have on my own and have never 'expected' anyone else to provide it for me and I am deeply sickened as to the state that our country has come to in this point in life....

I do not like this bill at all---and you folks know where I stand politically. That being said though, I do have a question for ya---yep, I know about the "******" and the "folks with too many kids" etc, but here is a very real situation from my school district:

I have several students whose father is a widower---the mother was killed a few years ago in a car accident. Anyway, the father was working for a roofing company, which went out of business, and has since developed a very serious liver disease. He is badly in need of a transplant, but will not be able to get one w/o insurance. Without a transplant, he will most likely die before long, and his two kids will be orphans.

Now, does the man die, or what does one do about getting him insurance---remember, he is out of a job and his insurance is kaput.

You can write all you want about illegal immigrants, etc. ******, too many illegitimate kids, etc..., but there is a very real possibility of the man losing his life and orphaning the kids. It is easy to dismiss the "faceless people" and the undeserving, I guess, but I have seen the face of a man who may die---in a country where we bring people from war-torn countries to do charity medical work, right? We have tremendous medical facilities and capabilities, but we are willing to let people die. I do not like the bill at all, but I also do not like the fact that Americans will possibly die in a country that can do so much for them, but chooses not to. What is the answer?

I say tough luck. I know that's a heartless statement, but them's the breaks. Healthcare is not a right.

I have a co-worker who has a grown daughter who has just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and has no health insurance. I do not believe she smoked, but that's neither here nor there.

What people do in that situation is have functions to generate donations as well as set up charitable donation accounts.

When I was a single parent and worked at a job that did not offer health care insurance I went out and bought my own. There is nothing more important than my childrens health.

TSC,

Well, there is no answer for that kind of situation in life that takes that from you.... IT SUCKS FOR SURE!

I do feel for that kind of situation... Just this last week, a Seattle Police Officer was GUNNED down in cold blood in a drive by shooting while he and his partner was stopped in their patrol car on Halloween night on the side of the road in a NEIGHBORHOOD... He was only 39 years old and has a young family....

Totally unprovoked, and done by a person who felt bad about HIS life and decided to take it out on someone else.... What about the poor families in Fort Hood that have to deal with the insane actions of ONE person who decided to change the world....

It is a shame that this **** happens, but **** happens, so why do the MILLIONS of other citzens have to pay for this??

Sure, the same thing can happen to me or a member of my family.... What do I expect the rest of the country to do about it?? Not pay for my support for the rest of my life... Yes, it SUCKS.... Life SUCKS for the majority of the worlds poplulation.... If we could save them all, there would be TRILLIONS of people on Earth and how is it going to support that??

All we can do is live each day as if it's our last.... NO ONE knows what is going to happen a minute from now or a year from now..... Deal with it.... It's called life...

What happens to these Orphans and single parent families, I have no answer for, but I do know that I'm only concerned about my family, and if **** happens to my family, then that's just Karma and to expect to have the rest of the world take care of me is not in my thinking......

I'm not an *** (well, maybe in your mind I am...) and I do care about LIFE and the prosperity of families, but when things are out of our control, and we can't change things of circumstance, why should those that have things going for them have to also take care of those that haven't had things work out for them?? If I die tomorrow, I hope that the things I have prepared for and setup for my family will keep me from having to draw off the resources of others who are trying to do the same thing....

At least from the media perspective, it's all about those folks that want something for nothing and that's where I get all pissed off about this ****......

Argh...... I hate this ****

Mitch

AllI am saying is this; I have a difficult time---and I hope you guys do, too, of saying,"It sure does suck to be you." Could you really, really say that to soebody you love, somebody in your family? Or would you be PO'd too, that the country with the greatest healthcare facilities does little for the people who may need it most? Are you folks that cold and callous?

Oh, and I do contribute to charity and contribute to those local families that have hardships like this.... It's called being HUMAN.... But, to be FORCED to pay for the misfortunes of life from those that are just SURVIVING as it is, is asking way too much....

My wife was laid off from Nordstrom in February of this year.... She has not been able to find a job since then... Guess what she is doing right this ******* minute..... She is VOLUNTERRING at the Seahawk game for NW Harvest who supplies FREE food for families that can't afford to feed them.....

She also VOLUNTEERS at the local animal shelter to help out there....

We also contribute to many other charities, but we do this out of our compassion and our own free will.... So, we already do more then I'd guess that others do....

Bottom line is, if I HAVE to pay for EVERYONE, then all these little things I do help support will be the first to get dropped from my charity because I still need to provide for my family and take care of myself and not EXPECT someone else to do it for me....

I don't know what I'd do if I was faced with a situation where things were at dire straights, but I know I would not EXPECT things to be done for me.....

eliminate the illegals and those that have no desire to work and that does not leave many uninsured. what they are doing is rewriting the entire system to take control of it. they say 95% of the people are covered. so they will destroy it all for us to cover a few.

I, too, do not expect stuff to get done for me, and I, too, volunteer, but there are people that, because of being out of work, etc, cannot get insurance because of "pre-existing conditions" and the overall cost. Yet we give charity surgeries to people from outside of our own hemisphere...I do not like the bill, but there has to be something, someway, to cover those he actually do need it the most, right? the man I mentioned before has worked all of his life, and would much rather be working, but he cannot get the insurance he needs to get the surgery done that will allow him to get back into the job force.
