After much study and research, they were found to be much more effective sitting on a stool up front pestering people for receipts.

 

That little snip above is a perfect example of the passive aggressive attitude that we are complaining about. We the consumer are not being rude for refusing a receipt check. Granted there are rude ways to refuse but refusing itself isn't being rude. When asked to see my receipt I usually just say "no thanks" and walk by. I don't see this as rude at all.

I think walmart has lost sight of customer service in general. The rude way they are demanding receipts, no longer do they help put bags in your cart, I don't remember the last time I was asked if I had found everything, when its slow the cashiers stand around and bs with each other and act like its a big inconvienience to check you out. The last one doesn't happen too often though, its usually the complete opposite, 5 people in each line but only 6 or 7 registers open out of 25 or more. I miss being asked the survey question on the cc machine, but I guess they got sick of the negative feedback and don't ask anymore. I've complained to managers before with no results. They don't seem to care either. I don't think its a local problem, had the same problem in ND visiting family and in Denver at a couple stores there.

 

Nobody is forcing you to shop at Walmart. If you don't like it, shop elsewhere. I don't care how far out in the sticks you are, or how small your town is, there are other options. It may cost you a bit more for your stuff and you may have to drive a bit farther, but you get what you pay for.......

Seriously, next time you dislike something, how about we all collectively tell you don't do it and go somewhere or use something else, etc. I swear, absolutely dumbest statement ever. Of course it's easier to not go there, but also costly and inconvenient more than the receipt check. Sure I'll travel 25 more miles out of my way for a higher priced store. Genius!!! Why didn't I think of that?

I will not travel out of my way or incur more expenses because of a receipt check. I'll just keep walking. Problem solved. And, if they keep asking me, every time I visit the store, a manager can escort me out until they learn.

As far as the joke about old people not working in the back yada yada, why hire them then at all (mostly, except for EO laws). Could hire a young kid to be a greeter, your point was really invalid.

 

You are entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. I personally think you are being a jerk about the whole thing, but that's your right. If you want to live a life without inconvenience, go hit the lottery and pay people to do your menial tasks for you.

If any of you guys are seriously upset when they ask to see your receipt, just tell them you'll be happy to show them at the refund-desk. Then return every purchase and leave with all your money. Your point will be made, although at a cost of a lot of wasted time. I guess it depends on what's important to you.

I think some people may take the request to see your receipt a tad personally but this is an error.
The checker doesn't know you, the cashier doesn't know you, and besides, how does a thief look?

Can we even acknowledge that increased theft leads to higher prices?
Are there any people among us who don't agree with the above line?

So if we agree with that, does flashing your receipt and taking that extra 7 seconds to comply with the checker's request not directly benefit you and me?

It probably took you 15 minutes to drive to Wal-Mart, another 8 minutes to walk from the back of the parking lot into the store while trying to avoid the mindless zombies walking and driving all around you.

Another 25 minutes making your way through the store, finding your items, and then 12 minutes waiting in line to be checked out when you finally run into the wal-mart greeter who asks to see your receipt for your plasma TV (because she wants to make sure you were properly charged for it), and you can't take the 2.4 seconds to show it to her?

For anyone to claim they don't have the time for this, you deserve a gigantic bumper sticker on the back of your vehicle that says

Thank you... you and GLC said it right... this is the silliest thread I think i have ever seen. Seriously? I understand that some people get annoyed by it, but some of these responses are silly... IDK, I just think people are too concerned about themselves now a days, just like the fact that they can't let someone pull out in a line of traffic. Does it really take that long? But it ok for the same person who doesn't let you in to cut you off when they need to get somewhere. Guess it's weird for an 18 year old to be letting people go and have rude snotty adults drive bye... the rush people are in just irks me.

 

Don't feel bad buddy, I let people in all the time too, yet seem to wait forever when I myself need letting in.
This is why I purposely try to avoid putting myself in a situation where me getting out depends on the mercy and kindness of someone else, because as you are already finding out at your young age, people (for the most part) are selfish ****s. I'd rather drive an extra 1/4 mile and get myself at a stop light,then have to wait for someones mercy.

What irks me the most is when you let some guy in, and he can't so much as give you the nod to say "thanks", that's when you feel like pulling him out by his head and beating his thankless ***.

Exactly man...people today disgust me. I'm not saying I'm perfect cause I'm not, but like you say... I would rather go a bit farther than have to deal with selfish people. I thin society is gonna be in for a rude awakening when everyone is being a jerk and there are only a handful of people with respect. I could go on all day but I won't
