Windows Vista
I'd buy a mac if I had a ton of extra cash, although my current machine cost quite a bit.
I remember pricing out the same machine on the apple site and man it was a lot more cash.
I know, pay now or pay later.

With regards to the "stupid users" comment, I didn't mean it in a derogatory manner, I apologize if that's how it was interpreted. Maybe ignorant would have been a better term, or unaware. Vista does takes some time and effort to play around with and know what to do and what not to do. Most people don't wanna put that effort in to it.
Additionally, with the popularity of Vista (and Windows in general), by the numbers it's going to be the most exploited, the most troublesome, because there's so many out there. It's a target rich environment. Macs do their thing well because comparatively speaking, no one out there cares about most of them or their users.
My Windows machines work. Vista works, I know, I've seen them do it. And some of them don't work. If it universally was the OS, we'd all be screwed, about 360 million of the screwed being Vista users. So, what (or specifically, who) does that leave? Be honest with yourself here.
It's like, ZOMGWTFBBQ my Windoze ain't working right, stupid Microsoft, it's their fault.
Some maniac blows away a few of his coworkers on the job, blame the folks who manufactured the gun he used.
Someone flips an Explorer after a tire blows out, blame Ford and Firestone.
Someone buys a half a million dollar house despite knowing full and damn well they don't make enough money to live in that house and defaults on the loan, blame the realtor and the bank.
Someone can't figure out how to make the second most commonly used OS on the planet stable and reliable, blame the manufacturer of the OS.
It's easy to blame an inanimate object for one's problems; it's not so easy to accept that you may be causing the problems, and to sit down and try to rectify said problems.
For most PC users, for most Vista users, I think they'd be better off buying Macs. They (Macs) are very good at what they do.
Nearly everyone that I know that has had problems with Vista, they were self inflicted (other than like stupid little USB driver issues, Apple is king for that, they did a really nice job in that regard). How can you blame the OS or Microsoft for that?

What is sad is that my machine was primarily used for web surfing only with an up-to-date virus scanner and fire wall. I have always been choosy of the sites I visit (typically the same 20 or so sites) and what junk is downloaded on my machines. The only programs on the machine are what came factory loaded.
When you completely re-format your hard drive, re-load the machine and the machine still locks-up once every day or so, when there is no virus and minimal cookies on a machine, the problem is with the OS.
It's your money, keep purchasing Microsoft's products if you choose, I just choose to not reward a company that without question throws their product on the public knowing it has issues. They are in essence saying that their customers' time is less valuable than theirs. I disagree.
wow.. I'm a bit late getting into this one.. but I coulda swore yall just had a PC vs Mac argument a couple days ago.. lolz..
Personally, I can't say much for either.. I still use XP on my system builds.. but I've used Vista.. and it generally works fine.. but I agree with Quintins comments about Vistas problems primarily being user oriented..
geez Habibi.. wth do you need that i7 and 12gigs for? you into video rendering or something?
btw Frank, you coming in here with your elitist Mac fanboy attitude sure doesn't make you look like an *** or anything
whether you like it or not.. at the end of the day you still get more bang for your buck from PCs..

Frank, I had an old win 98 machine that did that, I used to get the blue screen of death at least twice a day. I finally fixed the problem, it was third party software conflicts. There was so much bloatware preloaded that they all conflicted with each other. Once I figured out the problem, I uninstalled everything I didn't need and that old machine ran like a champ. Just because a windows machine runs like crap does not automatically mean the OS is the problem.
are you sure the problem isn't hardware related (ram or hard drive going out)?
I dont think he knew what the problem was. Rebooting and reformating sometimes can be like putting a fresh coat of paint over an uprepped body. It looks good at first but then the problems show up. Better off digging to the bottom and doing it right the first time instead of compounding issues.

I'm not a Mac "fanboy". But seriously, the gap has closed significantly in the last 2-3 years. These links aren't from Macworld, either.

This one is almost 3 years old.

Sometimes Macs beat PCs in the price/performance comparison. Sometimes PCs beat Macs. Overall, there’s relative parity.
More Ram = Less latency, so I bought as much as I could reasonably afford.
I remember the jump from 6 gigs to 12 gigs wasn't too bad, a few hundred bucks maybe, but the jump from 12 to 24 was exponentially out of this world, a little too rich for my blood.
I own a computer bussiness and love my Xp Pro. As far a Vista goes its absolute crap, i have customers coming in everyday gripping about vista and wanting Xp Back, 95 percent of the time the i can get XP on the vista machine and the people and tickled to death to have xp back. Vista runs so much slower than xp. I have a Dell GX280 Running XP with 2 gig of ram and it runs faster than any vista machine i have seen so far.
