That was painful to watch! .....That car would have served someone who wanted a decent beater/commuter! .......It did not even look too old either!.....

It's interesting, I feel the same way as all of you watching a vehicle get "killed". I feel even more depressed by the dismemberment by guillotine of military aircraft here at the boneyard at Davis-Monthan. Yet, I've also enjoyed watching a "demolition derby".

In all cases, a reliable machine that used to serve its operators well is mistreated and cast aside like garbage. Why don't we feel the same way about a trusty old water heater that has to be replaced? Or a wonderful old TV set that we watched for hours on end but is now replaced by a big, modern flat screen?

Lost in Space Episode!

Casting out a machine as junk that served it's owner well over the years reminds me of a "Lost in Space" episode when the Robot was picked out of the spaceship & was hanging upside down by a huge junk magnet in the space junkyard.....with that crazy looking junk man part machine thing!.......Does anybody remember that episode?......(LOL)......

For those not in the know, the vehicles engine MUST be destroyed and the car salvaged for the metals. If it is a running collector car- too bad.
Good thing there wasn't anything not one thing salvageable on that olds. shoot the tires only had 30k left on them better to just burn them... I guess im to stupid to figuar this "recycling" thing out

I don't think it took long enough for that damn Volvo to seize up. I did like the fact that the car tried to spit some oil on the guy right before it gave out.

yeah so were "recycling" these or what, Damn what are the 16yo high school kids gonna drive now? My 1987 Chevy Silverado that I drove in high school (99-03) would have been considered a "clunker" but I almost couldnt watch even an oldsmobile meet its death. I belive I may have shed a tear for the part of me that still loves GM products.
R.I.P red oldsmobile they cant hurt you anymore lol

On the Volvo, looks like they did not drain the oil first.

Said they did drain the oil on the Olds.

That volvo was 10 times in better condition than half the turd coupes running around here. Safe, strong reliable car gets killed while people still running around in 92 camrys and cavaliers with half exhuasts and 1 headlight and no taillights. Damn Shame!!

What a freaking WASTE! This is how our government is going to "save the planet".

I've watched too many videos of people doing ridiculous things to automobiles, but never anything as ridiculous as what our government is using billions of our tax dollars to do to usable automobiles.

What a absolute KICK IN THE TEETH to the American people this "cash for CLUNKERS?????" is!

We've got a bunch of people here who treat our vehicles like a part of our family and then we watch as the government dictates that these dealerships intentionally destroy automobiles that are better than what many people in this country currently drive. It's asinine!
