And seriously, you're getting your info from a smokers club??

how about this one.

I didn't get in here do debate smoking, I don't even smoke however I think its stupid that people that do are not allowed to do so in a bar.
What I have been trying to get at is that the government is punishing you by giving you a fine for not wearing a seat belt. So they are punishing you because you are putting only yourself in a dangerous situation, and that is wrong.

I don't smoke either, it's not what I consider critical to survive, it's a luxury item, so go ahead and tax it.
What I don't agree with is the new smoking ban in NC that prohibits smoking indoors. I think it should b up to the businesses to decide if they'll allow smokers or not.

If you are speeding on an open road, daylight, no rain, no houses or other cars within 10 miles.
Aircraft speed monitoring picks you off. you slow back down to the speed limit, due to a car up ahead ( the cop ).
Should you get a ticket ?
You were burning through fuel like mad, raising your average RUT / mile ( better for your state ), and only putting yourself in danger...
It has been said more than once " you want to play, you have to pay".
These are laws that you agreed to follow by using your privilege to drive. If you want to ignore the rules set, then you pay the tax ( ticket ).
One could argue all sorts of laws are only revenue generators, but they are laws all the same.
I'll say it again, don't like the current laws; get involved in getting them changed, and this means more than casting that 1 vote.

Here is the problem with that, with a seat belt not having it on never endangers anyone but the person not wearing it. Speeding, you have no idea if a car will suddenly pull out in front of you because you have no way of knowing if there is a car within 10 miles or not. So yes you should get a ticket. I doing what I am doing right now is helping with the stupid seat belt laws, if I can show someone the error of that law I have 1 more person on my side. I realize there is a lot more that I could be doing, but working as many hours as I do a day, I don't have time for something so trivial. So I will continue to voice my opinion and try and let people know how stupid that law is, and if I get a ticket I will take care of it.
Raptor05121 already said his narrow behind would slide around on the seat if he did not use it. That could be dangerous in certain scenarios.
So now we would have a law that said unless you weight the 16+ stones that I do, or have cloth seats, or ... you have to wear a seat belt.
For something you consider trivial, you sure do spend quite a bit of time on the topic.
This isn't even Debateable. Seatbelt's Save Lives.
You put a test dumby in a car and smash it into a wall:
No Seat Belt, Dummy "Dies"
Seat Belt, Dummy "Lives".
Don't give me the "my buddy got thrown from the car and if he didn't he would have died" story either, we all know that's a bunch of BS.
Cars these days are designed to have a Restrained passenger in a designated area with "crumple zones" around that area, protecting the passenger/driver.
If you're bouncing around in a car, you're gonna Die.
People not wearing seatbelts spending months in a hospital with a coma before they finally die instead of going home in a day if they'd worn it Cost You and Me a lot of money.

Between stricter seatbelt laws and safer vehicles you are MUCH more likely to survive a crash.
Comparing the safety of a modern vehicle to something built in the 60's?? Are you kidding? Yes, they didn't have seat belts then, and you were MUCH more likely to die in a crash back then too. Get real...
Race car driver's use the seatbelt to pull them into the seat. "connecting" them to the vehicle so they can "Feel" what the car is doing. That's another reason I wear my seatbelt, law or no law. So I can get the maximum performance out of my vehicle....

BTW im sure you putting your seat belt on straps you in like a race car, and lets you get "the maximum performance out of your vehicle".
