Do yourself and everybody else in your state a favor and start riding a bike.
Looks like street racing is a misdemeanor in Ohio, which in many states means a POSSIBILITY of jail time and big fines.

Also, license is to be suspended for 30 days to 3 years. The judge it not allowed to waive the 30 day suspension according to the statute.

http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4511.251

So unless you plea bargain down or beat the charge, you are losing your license for at least 30 days. Based on your record, I would expect far worse.

When you add up lawyers fees, fines, lost work, increased insurance costs, etc... you are looking at a VERY expensive street race.
But you forget! He had a "kill" .

ya, you are lucky you didn't get arrested. my friend got arrested end of november for stomping his truck at 30 mph and flew by a guy, cop pulled him over and arrested him for street racing. he said hes looking at a few k to pay the ticket off after lawyers. and thats here in texas so feel lucky you didn't go to jail.

and driving like his is not the reason insurance rates are so high his rates go higher for his driving habits, its for all the people who have no insurance causing wrecks, then others insurance has to cover there idiotic mistakes. its happened to several friends and their insurance had to pay to fix their vehicle because of someone w/ no insurance.

and as for the maturity thing, hes still young so theres a lack there-of. and i will admit i have my moments to very often. and it was 1:30 in the morning who else is on the road, absolutely no one so the only person he is gonna hurt is himself or his friend he was racing, so don't act like he's a terrible person for something so stupid. id rather someone street race at 1:30 in the morning rather than in the day when theres moms and their kids on the road.

You never know who is on the road at what times. Say someone pulled out in front of him and hes doing 90, is he gonna be able to miss them??

Not related to you obviously, but in Ontario and I believe other states/provinces they can take your car and crush it. Was implimented to strongly deter street racing.

Huh? So lets say you, an insured driver, runs into me, also an insured driver. And it's deemed my fault, but where to you think the money is going to come from to fix both vehicles?

He wasn't saying that the money to fix an insured driver dosen't come out of premiums, he was just making the point that those of us that buy insurance have to pay a much higher cost in order to cover the uninsured.

Regardless if he is immature, making one bad decision and learning is cool, making two---I believe he is a slow learner---this appears to be his third---and, (while I am not sure) it sounds somewhat like he is proud of this accomplishment. He needs to grow up in a hurry.

Yeah, anti-street racing legislation is very common these days.

It hits a little close to home for me, as my uncle was hit when a Camaro and Mustang street racing plowed into him (he had pulled out onto a main road, not expecting them to be approaching from around a gentle sweeping curve at 100+ mph).

Of the 4 guys in the Camaro and Mustang, two were killed (both the guys in the Camaro) and the driver of the Mustang was paralyzed. My uncle's Crown Vic was totalled when the Mustang hit it, and he broke his arm and had a bad concussion (could have been worse). The guys in the Camaro did not actually hit my uncle's car, but lost control, rolled multiple times and both were ejected from the car (no seat belts).

Last I heard, the driver of the Mustang is still litigating with the criminal justice system regarding his fate (fatalities and injuries when street racing usually result in the book getting thrown at any surviving driver). After the criminal phase is decided, my uncle will in all likelihood sue the beejesus out of him and his insurance company. So that dude is pretty much hosed. Not sure if he was ahead at the time of impact though, so maybe he has that to cling to, lol.

Here is your next ride!

I will sell you this for a great price---

I ride this to commute---looks like you will be looking for something like this, too---it does have some ad-ons, but I do not think that you will be able to street race with it!

Back in the late 80s in Abilene, TX there was a defunct industrial park developement. There was a wide street about a half mile long. We had a 1/4 marked off and would meet out there every Friday and Saturday night. There would sometimes be as many as 300 people with 20 to 30 racers. The cops were cool with it as it kept the street racers away from the traffic areas. They would cruise through, check for underage drinking and idiots. Would even watch a few races. We would stay out there till around two in the morning. I would race my 54 that is in my album. Lots of fun. No one ever got hurt.

I have an acquaintance who thought seeing how fast his brand new 2004 Mustang GT would go was a good idea. Ended up losing control and his female passenger was ejected, she ended up dying from critical injuries. He now sits in prison convicted of negligent vehicular homicide.

Not a street racing accident, but the same rules apply.

I had an image in my other post but I can't see it for some reason, so here it is again in all it's glory.

He's going to end up like this.
