Angry Professional wrestling is sick, even criminal

I went to TNN tonight, thought I might find some motorsports or Eighteen Wheels of Justice or good music or whatever, and found instead in prime time one of the sickest spectacles I have ever seen: So-called "professional" violence -- oh, I'm sorry, professional "wrestling", being broadcast at a time when my 8-year-old watches, -- I don't know how to express this I'm so angry -- with apparent grown men hitting themselves with chairs and ladders and stomping each other, with what appears to be blood streaming down their faces, with so-called "people" standing by watching, screaming, cheering.

I don't care if it is fake. To televise something dispicable and sick like that should be criminal and TNN should be ashamed of itself or even charged with some offence, because by doing so creates or feeds an appetite for violence.

That this lame spectable is capable of filling stadiums with our fellow citizens and their children makes me wonder what civilization is coming to.

Well Shifter, that's probably a big difference between Canada and the States. In the US, it is popular all over. The only difference between the North and South here is the North thinks it's fake.

IF you don't like what is on TV, THEN DONT WATCH IT!! I for one love Wrestling, it's very entertaining. Guess you don't reazlize that Wrestling is the most popular thing on TV these days? With stations setting records in ratings and viewing audeinces. Well, it's just as easy for a kid to cut the tv on to HBO and see some naked women or Sly Stallone blowin someboys head off. If children can't tell the difference between reality and what's on tv, then they dont need to watch tv. Just stick with basic channels, just watch the Simpsons. But wrestling will always be there, it's not gonna leave, to entertain me and millions of others. Basic point, it's entertainment, if you don't like it, THEN DONT WATCH IT. Make your kids watch big bird over at Sesame Street or somethin.

Cool

When I was growing up, my parents didn't get a TV until 1957. I may be the last generation to have been blessed without the screen of the mindless "boob tube" in my young life. Gee, we used to go outside and play after school...never knowing the now, common world of electronic stimulation. Kinda worrisome for all you young parents. Mudder, someday you may see why some folks feel the way they do about their kids and their well being, when things become "a-parent" to you! j.b.

I don't watch it, but it's not up to our overpowering government to take it off the air.
If you don't like it don't watch it.
PARENTS, not the government should determine what's on TV in the house.
If TNN has wrestling on I know how to use the remote.
There's only like 60 other channels to watch or then there is always the OFF button.

i remember watching "Gorgeous George" wrestle when i was a child. i use to laugh my 4-5 yr old *** off watching my elderly great aunts/uncles getting upset by the "gorgeous" ones cheating tactics. they would swing their canes and walkers, screaming at the ref, who would turn his back at the most inopertune times. when the blood would finally flow from a "prepared" forehead, My great-uncle Pete, would give me the look, that only an older, wiser family member can give, and say: "you can't tell me that blood's fake!!!" to which i would shake my 4-5 yr old head and try to keep from laughing out loud at a situation i could not win.

Thumbs down

I think I have figured out 'professional' wrestling. It is Soap Opera for the uneducated. Compare 'Day Time Dramas' to Night Time Wrestling. Guys get knocked off and still come back the next show like it was only a scratch. You can dissappear for a few years and come back younger than before. They sometimes have it on at work so I can't miss not seeing it. Last week the had a Hummer driving over a Stretch Limo in the parking lot - that true wrestling. We use to clock how much actual ring wrestling went on in a 3 hour show, there was more commercial time than actual ring time. It was all in your face, your not man enough for me, you cut me I'll get you whining by a bunch of over muscled men who spend too much time in make-up and wardrobe.
Well at least it creates jobs and keeps them off welfare and it also keeps the have nots of the street at night.

I'm sorry guys, but I really enjoy wrestling. I like inviting all my buddies over and rootin for Stone Cold to drop the stunner on the Rock or the Undertaker. I'm really into it. I just dont like people baggin on it, kinda like someone baggin on my truck. There are a lot of people out there that like wrestling. So lets him from you guys that enjoy it.

Andy Rooney on 60 Minutes did a piece on wrestling. He took several matches and played it back in slow motion. Almost every blow never touched either party. It is choreographed and acted out. In slow-mo you can really see what a sham it is. No offense Mudder, but real men like to see a real fight - these guys are just bad actors. Unfortunately, some kids think this is real - and maybe some adults.

K wrestling is dumb (in my opinion). Is it criminal? No (well maybe some of the "acting" =] ). Why should they take it off TV it isn't as violent as a ton of other crap out there.

Now I've never seen 18 wheels of justice. But i'm assuming it's some guy driving around in an 18 wheeler shooting & guys & blowin stuff up.

Mudder: suggesting that he watch the simpsons is no good. Itchy & scratchy has to be THE most violent cartoon on broadcast TV. I think he would be more pleased with "Cosby" or "Full House"
