Smile If you could do it again

If you could order your truck all over again, just the way you want it. What would you change, if anything? Not necessarily "available options" as stated in the brochures, but still only Ford factory parts up to present date.

Myself, I would order the same basic truck with these changes.
4 doors! I'd cut off my little finger for an extra door!
Some of them there eeelectric power seats would be nice.
Some other color than black, maybe red. Don't get me wrong, black is the best looking color hands down, when it's right. When it's not, it's ugly as sin!
3.73 gears. That would be worth a little toe.
Oh, man! I would be absolutely worthless if I had a lightning engine and drive train stuffed in there!
That's about it for me. If I think of something else I'll stick it in here.

Remember, only parts available from the factory!

Wrangler dual battery kit with red & yellow top Optima batteries. Torsion bars cranked up 2 turns. Needs one more door and a lot more power. I think I need to talk to Mr. Whipple.

I'd get it with cloth instead of leather seats.

The present Lariat has everything but the block heater, ORP, and/or skid plates. Maybe I'd ask for an aluminum drive shaft too, so I don't have to look at the rusty one.

btw, it's a '99 Lariat, SC, 4x4 SOF, 5.4L, 3.55 LS, Captain's chairs (leather), 6 disc CD, factory soft tonneau, tow. I think that's all it has from the option list.

Thumbs up

I hear ya, Dennis! That's the one reason I didn't go with a Lariat. Of course I had to do without some of the other niceties that I would liked to have gotten. Oh, well.

I would take the 3:73 gears, get the sport package, and thats about it. Kinda like it the way it is.

I too didn't go with the Lariat because I didn't want the leather. But I sure would have loved to have that over head console/computer thingy and I like the Lariat wheels too. Oh yea, I think a leather wrapped steering wheel in black would have been nice. And while I'm at it, why not throw in some of the new Harley Davidson nick/nack dash thingys. These are the only things I couldn't get on my new SD, I got everything else I wanted

Tina--People have told me that they don't regester the correct mpg's with a psd.

I of course would have gotten black, with a red interior, 4x4, 5.0L, E40d, manual locking hubs, aluminum rally wheels, and the same equipment as mine. Of course thats history, so maybe I'll just order my next truck to my specifications?

I bought mine used, but if I'd buy a new one. I would change the 3.08 to 3.55 or 3.73

Other than that I like my truck as is, well maybe if the gas prices would go down, I'd opt for a V8 and tow package.

This is why I traded my 98 5.4L supercab F-150 in for my 2000...I wanted 4 doors, factory CD player, overhead console, 4 wheel disk anti-lock brakes, dark graphite interior, towing package with heavy duty cooling system, heavy duty shocks and the additional horsepower 5.4L. My 98 was a nice truck..but nothing like what I traded up for!

As of now..there is nothing I would change on my 2000..except if FORD offered the keypad entry for the XLT. I do not like leather that much, so I loaded up my XLT..which is basically a Lariat.

Well I bought mine off the lot it had just about every thing I wanted. The only thing I would change would be the color. White is a nice color but I like a dark blue alot better.

4.6 Triton Engine
4x2 3.55 rear end gear

The only thing I would like to add to my 98 Lariat would be a fourth door.

Lets see, current truck is:

99 F-150 XLT SuperCab
4.2l V-6
4x2 3.55 rear axle

Change that to a:
99 F-350 XLT SuperCab
7.3l PSD
4x2 3.73 LS Differential
HD package

I too bought mine used, so if I bought a new one, hmmmmmmm....

The same truck with these options would be great!

-The Lightning engine, OH YEAH!!
-Fourth door!
-Electric rear sliding window( don't know if this is an offered option or not)
-Bucket seats.
-3.73 gears.
-4 wheel disc anti-lock brakes.
-Overhead console(wish they offered a moonroof)

I think thats about it.

97 F-150 S/C LWB Lariat 4.6L.
Like the leather, no problems with it, and I slide in and out! Wish I would have spec'd the LS rear end. Tough to get started pulling out on a wet black top road, when making a right turn from a stop (that's a tight turn with the 157" wheelbase).

I would have gotten a V-8 w/auto and power mirrors! I was at my local Ford house yesterday and noticed several XLs w/ power mirrors now. The manual mirrors suck! I did not see one regular cab V-8. Damn, the prices have gone up, too.
