Carjacking Horror
Ever think "That can't happen to me?" I have.. This horrible incident happened right here in Missouri.
There is no possible way to replace the loss felt by the family, friends, and community in the senseless death of this child.
At what point do we say "enough?" Is this the way we want to live? Do I have to fear driving down my street unarmed? As much as I hope this could, at the very least, be a catalyst for change in the State of Missouri, I am skeptical. My parents taught me right from wrong, and if you screw up, you take the consequences. PERIOD. What kind of plea bargin will this guy get? Sounds like bull to me. Let's hold EVERYBODY responsible for their actions, and get this country back on track. End the pointless violence, end the pain. Let the citizens arm themselves, and not punish them when they do. I've been at gunpoint before, and I'll say this; if I was armed, the guy would have never done it again! I'm not talking about people shooting another driver because they were cut off in trafiic, the criminals are armed, but here in Missouri, YOU best not be! (there are exceptions of course)
Sorry to rant about this, I know I would love to have not heard about this in the first place, but I for one am tired of innocents being taken because another person thinks that they don't have to play by the rules. The rules suck when you're on the recieving end of a traffic ticket, but this ain't no traffic ticket folks! These are our children, this is our life. Let's live it, without fear, without restriction to protect those we love, and finally, one lost life is enough.
WHY? why.

I think they should get 4 trucks tie his arms to 2 of them and his legs to teh other 2 and make an example of him.
Ppl like that deserve to die a slow painful death.
Bad enough he dragged anyone much less a 6 year old.
And you konw he had to hear that boy crying and screaming as he met his horrible fate.
Anybody that hear a child suffer like that and not give a damn doesn't deserve to share this earth with us.

BLUE SPRINGS? All the news reports say KAnsas city.
Its hit hard around here...
I think they should send his a$$ out here, I'll tie him up to the bumper on my F-150, and drag his A$$ down our rough rock roads. See if he still likes draggin people. I guess even in Kansas it isn't safe to leave your vehicle running infront of a store.

Pastmaster: Blue Springs, MO is on the outskirts of the Kansas City Metro Area.
Think About This:
Imagine working for a company with a little over 500 employees, to whom the following statistics apply:
3 have been arrested for assault;
7 have been arrested for fraud;
8 have been arrested for shoplifting;
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges;
19 have been accused of writing bad checks;
21 are current defendants in lawsuits;
29 have been accused of spousal abuse;
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit;
84 (just in 1998 alone) were stopped for drunken driving;
117 have bankrupted at least two businesses.
What organization is this?
Why, it's the 535 members of our United States Congress. This is the same group which perpetually cranks out hundreds upon hundreds of new laws designed to keep the rest of us in line. They sure do have impressive credentials ... don't they!!??!!

Dennis,
In Texas, capitol murder charges would have been filed and the death penalty asked for and probably been granted.
Capitol murder is defined as "murder occuring as a result of or in the act of commiting another crime". I have been seated as a juror on capital murder and still have nightmares 7 years later.
Rant Mode ON:
It's a little better in the last month or so, because the sorry b_stard went to the lethal injection room and didn't come back.
I firmly believe it's high time that criminals be prosecuted and punished in accordance to thier crime. As far as I'm concerned, criminals (particularly those that commit capital crimes) waive all of thier rights when they commit the act.
Any act of violence not commited in the defense of you, your's, or even someone you don't know, is a violation of the victim's civil and human rights. Nobody cries for the victim, but they make sure the criminals get free educations, 3 hot meals a day, free medical care, cable TV (why!!???), sports equipment and "counseling". All at our expense. Recidivism is at an all time high. I am not saying everyone in jail should rot there. I am saying that unless they can show that they are truly reformed and will never be likely to turn back to crime, they do the time, all of it.
It is my firm opinion that these animals should be dealt with according to the laws on the books. We have no need of new laws, at best we need to revise some of the statutes and the punishments for the crimes committed.
My deepest sympathy and heartfelt grief are with the family.
BTW, blaming the mother for leaving the child in the car is unkind at best. Some of us are old enough to remember when you didn't know if the locks on our doors worked because we never had to use them, and I'm not that old (40).

Chuck -- Thanks for the clarification. Damned, with that kind of law in Texas, it's a wonder people still commit crimes there.
Blaming the mother may be unkind, but this child's death never would have happened if the mother had not left him in the vehicle unattended.
People in this thread are going off on the carjacker and saying what they would have done to him if they had their gun with them. I said what I said as a warning to everyone that IF this mother had used some common sense, this child would still be alive today.
Call me cruel, but if all you ever learn out of this tragedy is that you have more hate for the carjacker and all you can do is think about death penalties and guns, then this kid died for absolutely nothing. His short life was a waste of time.
Always remember that the worst can happen and eventually will happen so you damned well better do all you can to prevent it. Ignoring the dangers we're surrounded by is foolish at best. We live in a cruel world that seems to be getting worse by the minute.
My heart goes out to the family but please. Don't let his short life on this planet go to waste.
P.S. I'm old enough to remember when leaving your keys in the ignition was common place and nobody locked their doors. Does that mean I do that now? Not even when the truck is in my driveway!

I thought that punishment guidelines for felonies were suppose to dissuade people from commiting the crime. If this 'animal'
ever has his day in the death chamber, here's what will happen:
"Johnny what would you like for dinner"
"Johnny the Reverend is here to see you"
"Johnny it's time to go for a walk now"
"Johnny lay down on this bed"
"Johnny make a fist, you feel a slight burn, and then you will go to sleep"
Who gets it better, the 6year old boy or the carjacker, who I bet is currently sleeping on a bed with clean clothes and a full stomach cadre of lawyers and doctors trying to get him off with maybe a slapped on the wrists?
If someone did something like this to my children, I would do ALL in my power to get the animal and treat him with less respect and kindness, less than human. If you've seen movies like 'The Vikings' the Nords tied criminals to tidal spikes in the fjords and let the crabs have at them, the Normans threw their convicts into a pit of mad dogs. Some medevil ways included 'hang, draw and quartering'. I was recently sent a jpeg of what the French currently do to drug smugglers, strip them naked and let them dance from the end of a rope. These ways may not stop all felonies but it would sure lower the crime rates. We just need some leaders with the guts to change punishments to fit the crime.
The mother was wrong, but it's too late to tell her that, we can only pray for her and her child. In every Day Care in this state there are posters that make it clear, 'Don't leave your child alone, NOT EVEN FOR A MINUTE!'

Wyldman:
I couldn't agree more. What is the point of laws, lawmakers, etc, etc, if we are not prepared to enforce them??
Dennis:
I agree that this is true, but I feel the ultimate issue involves what the killer did. Yes, it is a wrong to leave a child unattended in an automobile, but should one mother's mistake result in the death of her child? I for one am disgusted by the society we live in. Crime WILL exist. Murderers WILL kill. Theives WILL steal. But if we, as a society, got serious about fighting crime and moral decline, I think the situation can improve. Until we get realistic, we will continue along this path.
For example, I don't like firearms. BUT, I do feel that citizens should HAVE the right to carry a firearm if they so desire. That is the SAME freedom that allows me to live my life the way I see fit, and to limit ANYBODY'S freedom is itself a crime.
There has been a big stink lately in Missouri regarding the theft of "Adopt A Highway" signs. A HATE group won the right to adopt a section of Interstate. The point is this: I may not agree for what they stand for, but I do believe in freedom. Freedom to your beliefs, freedom to express those beliefs, and the freedom to live, freely, without fear of having your possesions, or your very life taken from you.

As much as I hate that dirty b*stard for what he did ALL Americans have a right to a fair trial. As much as I hate the fact that he breathes the same air as my child does I am not in favor of the government executing its citizens for many reasons. First of all the numbers I've read is that it's 3 times more expensive for them to fight it all the way to the Supreme Court than to feed them for life. Second, we as citizens stoop to his level in that we take another human life. We become what we hate most about him just to satisfy an urge for revenge which does nothing to bring back the victim and never will. Lastly as a deterent it fails miserably with the exception of that one criminal. If you really wanted to impress upon people a deterence then you start when they are children and I don't think anyone is in favor of having them witness any executions. Also keep in mind if something really succeeds as a deterent then you never have to use it. The fact that it is used proves it doesn't work and that goes for all those other strange things they do in those backward countries that can't afford decent protection for its citizens.
Don't misunderstand my opposition as being on this dirtbags defense team. Quite the opposite. I hope he rots in a jail cell pleasing "Bubba" every nite, every way for the next 40 years. When convicted, in my opinion, he waives his right to walk among law abiding citizens for as long as that poor kid is unable to. I also favor self defense. I believe we all have a right to use any means necessary to defend ourselves and our loved ones. A little $.25 justice would have went a long ways in the mothers hands.
As cold as it sounds the mother was a dumb*ss for leaving him alone in the first place. However, she will undoubtedly beat herself up over what I found the most disturbing...the last thing she saw of her son alive. I don't know if even I could live with that.

The butthole who did this could have been a worthwhile individual, someone to be looked up to and respected. Instead he chose to live his life outside the law and he has become a wolf, preying on the lives and property of his fellow beings. Unfit to live and unsafe to remain at large. And he thus, should be consigned to be exterminated from the face of the Earth.
