Are they going to sue the company that made the Blazer? or the whole auto industry? It was a Blazer, wasn't it? It wasn't the car that killed the little boy, it was the carjacker.
My point... It's not the weapon that's evil, it's the person welding it, and his or her intent.

I don't want to get into a debate over gun laws, but DonW is 100% correct. This whole thing didn't have to happen in the first place if the mother hadn't left the child in the vehicle with the engine running. Nobody should be leaving kids unattended in any vehicle, much less one that's running. This story could easily have been about this kid knocking the vehicle into gear and running over some other kid walking in the parking lot.

It's tragic that this happened to a child, but let's not forget that this mother bears a lot of responsibility in this tragedy. Yes, it's cruel to say something like this to a grieving parent, but as far as I know, she's not here. I'm saying all of this, instead, as a warning to all of you who have kids. Don't be lazy. Do what's right. What she did is illegal in some, if not most, of the areas in this country.

Society has been changing for the worse over the past two or three decades. This change has accelerated in the past 5 years. We can't afford to be compacent any more. Keep on your toes, folks. Think preventative, defensive and be observant at all times.

Carrying a gun is one thing, but avoiding those situations is still the best way to go. Keep those doors locked and windows up, especially at intersections and stops and for Christ's sakes, stay away from high crime areas!

As a final note, I'm damned glad that there are still people out there who give a ***** about other people. Those guys who chased after the driver are to be commended. Not enough people are willing or have the presence of mind to do that. On the other hand, if the kid had not been dragging outside the vehicle, I doubt if they would have chased after him.

BTW, I think those guys got in a lick or two. Did you see the face on the carjacker? He looked pretty beat up to me. I mean, there were eventually something like 6 guys grinding him into the pavement.

Incredible that this happened! This is why I have a permit to carry concealed.

I'd 'Glock' the *SSH*LE in a heartbeat! Just think what is going to happen if firearms (pistols) are ever banned!

If this happened in someplace like Texas, would he be eligible for the death penalty? It looks like the most they can charge him with is second degree murder. Not sure about this, but I'm under the impression that for it to be a capital offense, it has to be first degree murder. Can anybody clarify this for me?

I just saw that S.O.B on the television again and I have a new idea: I'd like to duct tape his arms and legs so HE'S helpless and then beat his head into the blacktop until he's gone. I might feel a little bit better then. Everybody that has kids do yourself some good: hug'em up tight and let'em know how much you love'em. This whole deal has bothered me to no end since it happened. I don't believe that bastard didn't know he was dragging something. I think I'll stop right there.

They should tie up that A-hole to a class III hitch!!! Can't believe how some people can have no conscious what so ever!! That person will pay very hard for what he did, in his lifetime and especially in his afterlife. Remember that their is a justice, higher than that of man! No way he can get away with it.

Just one question. If the woman would have a gun in her car, what good would that have done? The ***** head could have found it and kill the poor mom. I don't like guns too much but I am taking Brazilian Judo-JuJitSu (taking a break after an incident during a lesson---MAN that stuff really hurts!---after on hit I couldn't move for 5 days----Owwe!!). This wont help me much if the opponent has a gun, but it could help me if someguy is after me with a nife or bat etc...

I wish that this ***** will never happen to any of us here or any one at all for that matter.

4byFord, it won't happen to us unless we do stupid things. Most of these types of problems could have been avoided in the first place.

This child's death was senseless, but I'm hoping a whole lot of good comes from it. I'm not talking about letting more people carry guns. I'm talking about opening people's eyes to what we all need to do to prevent these kinds of tragedies in the first place.

Go ahead and hug your kids, but remember, hugging doesn't replace common sense. Don't leave the kids in an unattended car! Not even for a minute.

Fully agree Dennis, Although I'm only 23 and no kids or wife, I would never let "my child" alone in my car. Let them take my piece of metal but not flesh and blood! I've seen articles of parents leaving their babies in cars (windows up and really hot) to the point of brain dammage and even death!

But I'm so darn paranoid! I won't even leave my truck "alone" unattended. I park my truck right next to my office and at the mall I usually go back to check on it. I would never park in a suspicious area and is always under a light, also when working late or on weekends, I put my truck in the secure R&D area.

Imagine me with my child...I would never leave the kid out of my sight

These types of criminal actions just ENRAGE me!!!

Capital punnishment is WAY to quick and easy! I say they put the guy away for life in general population. After that the authorities make his offense known through the entire cell block. What this will acomplish is a endless, brutal, horrific phisical and mental abuse for the rest of the convicted's days. The inmates will have a field day with this guy. Remember what happened to Jeffery Dommner, or ever heard what happens to rapists, wife beaters or child molesters? Now thats punnishment!

I wont even get into what I'd like to do to that motherless f#ck... I have decided I'll take the chance with carrying a loaded firearm in my truck (not legal here) over the chance of some SOB doing something like that to my family.... Call me a redneck, a rightwing extemist or whatever but I'm not letting something like this happen to me...
