We got cross ways one time before, when I first started posting in the GD. You know me, I'm friendly to everyone, because I simply like people and enjoy different points of view.
I'm having a little trouble with the question Chris posed to me.
Because we all know, every story has three sides. This guy's story, That guy's story, with the truth being in the middle somewhere.
I guess that is the best answer I can give until it is rephrased and posed again.

Unfortunately these concepts exceed your understanding and comprehension.

Your debating skills are sadly lacking.
No soup for you today.

Chris

I have read the Bible as a whole, and in parts. I have read old manuscripts that have been translated many times. I've even tried translating many on my own to my own frustration. I'm compelled to do this for no reason I can explain.
Compare the stories to the old classroom exercise of whispering something in someones ear and having it passed around the room to see how the line comes back to you. We all know the results, it never is translated the same.
The Bible is laid out in a way to teach an individual to receive the concept of God. After all, we wonder what life is all about, and are born with no answers. The people over the years have toyed with certain passages to their own delight. But their interperatations would not survive if they did not reach people in the desired effect.
Accuracy! The actual words of Jesus are the important part. He spent 38 years just preparing himself for his duty. It was a duty thrust upon him at birth. So he grew up not just believing he was the son of God, he grew up knowing it. That is Faith. I can't quote scripture like many here, partly because I have read so many, partly because my mind doesn't work that way. But mostly because, the verse numbers simply are not important to me.
I went over half my life calling myself an atheist. But when I decided to read the Bible one more time with an open mind it changed me forever.
I have plenty more to say, but I'll stop there as not to bore the rest of you.

"Johnny and the Mothers are playing "Stompin' at the Savoy" in Vermont tonight."

To the rest of your post.

Thanks for writing Tumba. I appreciate your view. The fact that we believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and have asked him to move us in our heart, well that is all that really counts. The rest is just details. You don't get a better place in Heaven if you memorize verses.. I hope... I can't memorize my own phone number practically.
My view of the Bible is different than yours. That is fine. I believe it was written by God thru man. When they found the dead sea scrolls, the interpretation to the then current Bibles was perfect. I don't agree with the translation changing over time. The problem with reading the Bible no matter how good a Christian anyone is usually can't be read alone and get the meaning of a lot of text. A lot of that has to do with the fact we just don't talk that way any more. The little intricacies and details are deep and usually needs several people at a Bible study to see some of this. Anyways.. hope we're good... No hard feelings from me anyways.

Dude there is no point. If he couldnt read my post and learn that there are 2 sides to this, hes dumber than he looks.

If you use the logic that most who responds to this thread use, then wouldnt the UK be justified in bombing Israel?
Just curious.

I did not even receive the question as any form of criticizm. My view on most subjects are misunderstood. But now everytime I read scripture, I do it from different perspectives, just to help myself understand. I do however like to study alone. I have had the views of others cloud my beliefs for too many years. When I found God, it was with a great epiphany as I have found some others have before me, and for me that was the begining of an adventure that I enjoy as much as a person could enjoy anything on earth. As a matter of fact I'm glad you asked, it made me dig deeper, because I've enver attempted to answer that, even when I asked myself. I am an artist of sorts and have a vivid photgraphic visualization prosess, that guides me in my work.
When I read the Bible, it comes to life, and different scenarios take it from there. But once I reach a conclusion, it takes long discusions with a man of the cloth to debate with. Sometimes my views change, and often other's views change, but it always deepens any spiritual connection.

Shines, where are you?

It's an old movie line that refers to exactly what you said about whispering on someone's ear and seeing what comes around.

Lil: Get this to Johnny on the grapevine. Vermin is going to kill Johnny's brother at the savoy theater tomorrow night. Got it?
Polly the parrot: Got it.
[flies away]
Polly the parrot: [arrives at prison mess hall and lands on the shoulder of a prisoner] Vermin is going to kill Johnny's brother at the Savoy theater. Pass it on.
Prisoner: [to the next prisoner sitting next to him] Vermin is going to kill Johnny's brother at the Savoy theater tonight. Pass it on.
Prisoner: [to the next prisoner, "telephone" style] Vermin is going to kill Johnny's mother at the Savoy theater tonight. Pass it on.
Prisoner: [to the next prisoner] Vermin's mother is going to kill Johnny tonight at the Savoy theater. Pass it on.
Prisoner: [to the next prisoner]
[unintelligible]
Prisoner: ... at the Savoy. Pass it on.
Prisoner: There's a message through the grapevine, Johnny.
Johnny Dangerously: Yeah? What is it?
Prisoner: Johnny and the Mothers are playing "Stompin' at the Savoy" in Vermont tonight.
Johnny Dangerously: Vermin's going to kill my brother at the Savoy theater tonight.
Prisoner: I didn't say that.
Johnny Dangerously: No, but I know this grapevine.

I'm surprized I didn't catch that one. Movie lines stick to me like glue most of the time.

Hah! The movie was still great, even if she wasn't in it (but she helped). I can't remember how long my friends and I emulated Roman Maroni after that movie.

My turn.

No, YOUR debating skills are lacking...blah blah blah blah.

I win.

Wow, that was hard.

Don't quit your day job dawg, any career involving actually having to argue a point would result in you needing to ask your dawg Obama for some food stamps and unemployment.

And now, a legend in his own mind, Lumadar---who is undefeated in every debate (at least in his own mind)...and, when it gets tough, he plays the "completely incapable of actually holding a valid argument" quite well...

When in a corner, remember, always say that the other argument is absurd or off topic!
