Do you wear your seatbelt?
I always wear mine. I try to get my fiance to always wear hers, but she won't most of the time unless I make her. She just recently got a $75 ticket and still won't wear it. She says it is because she is big and it doesn't fit her.
Did anyone notice who the thread starter of this thread is? Hard to imagine Raoul starting a thread like this

Mine use to ding too. Then I did the Hokie Pokie as described in my owners manual to disable that.
Now do the Hokie Pokie and turn yourself around. That's what it's all about!

Deactivating/Activating the Belt Minder feature:
The Belt Minder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:

Seatbelts, always. All Passengers--including pregnant ones. Someone said pregnant people shouldn't wear seatbelts but that's not true. Study after study proves otherwise. Hit Google for more info.
I used to work in an auto insurance company claims dept. Here's why I wear mine. Maybe this will help coax a few non-users into reconsidering.
Only one type of injury haunts me, and it's related to not wearing a seatbelt. It's called a 'degloving'. It generally happens when a person not wearing a seatbelt tries to brace themselves for impact using the steering wheel or dashboard. Upon collision, your hand(s) go through the dashboard if you're trying to brace yourself (the effort to brace yourself is a complete waste of time, as instinctual as it may be). When you're thrown back in your seat your hand is pulled out of the dash board, but most of the skin and tissue is torn off by the plastic and metal surrounding the hole in the dash. The result is basically a skeletonized hand that more often than not requires amputation.

p.s. Generally speaking, automobile insurance companies haven't made an underwriting profit for an awfully long time, somewhere around 20 years. The money is made by reinvesting the premiums received into the stock market to turn a profit.
