First off: I was riding with a friend, we're okay and it was NOT MY FAULT!

Breakdown: I was travelling north on the main road right lane (white arrow) at about 50 mph. This lady in a 1984 F-150 was leaving the parking lot of the collision center (how ironic...) and I dunno if she tried merging in front of me or going straight across (from my right to lefT), but she did not make eye contact with me and as soon as she started rolling I held down the horn and slammed on the brakes. We hit doing no more than 20 mph. No bags, we were wearing our belts. We are okay except my back hurts a little. I immediately pull out the phone, dial 911, and give them a breif description.



The fire dept. was about 1 mile away, so it took them 30-45 seconds to get out there. But as soon as I hung up, I had my VFD radio tuned to Fire & Rescue dispatch and I heard my call go out. Kinda neat. But anyways, they roll up, with the Live Oak Police Department. My door dosent open so I hop out the window (NASCAR style, of course) and the cop immediately asks for liscence, registration, and insurance. Well, I had all three right in my wallet. I had them out before he finished the sentence. He takes them and goes to the lady. The fire dept. starting filling out stuff. He couldn't get my VIN (door wouldn't open) and so I had it memorized, and gave it to him, lol. I know you guys are tired of reading, so heres a few pics to wet your taste buds.





So to sum it up, my left corner light is smashed. LED bulb is fine, but the connector is somewhere in the street. My aftermarket left headlight has paint scratches and the glue let go of one end. I wrote it off.... HID bulbs are fine. Engine is fine. No leaking fluids, just cosmetic. Frame didn't bend, from what I could see, but to drive it home I had to take off the front bumper (it was digging into the front left tire). My surround is gone, main grille is okay. Bumper grille...gone. Left quarter...gone (taking off badges!) hood has a deep scratch and a slight bend (1") in the side, but I'm having her pay for it. SHE DID NOT GET A TICKET. I am pissed, but if her insurance does not pay for everything, we're going to take her to court. As soon as the cop showed up he told us to move. I told him not without pics. I am glad I did, because those show she was at fault. I've got more coming (as soon as my phone sends them to my e-mail) so hang tight. I think we have an open-close case, but lets hear it guys.


Just thought this would never happen to me...

P.S: The girl riding with me (a friend) recently got into an accident a few months back in my ex g/f's Oxford White 1998 Mustang 3.8L V6. Moral of the story, SHES NOT RIDING IN A WHITE FORD EVER AGAIN!

 

that sucks man. glad your ok and no one got hurt. looks like its time for you to upgrade to a 99-03 front end!

Funny thing is, that is EXACTLY what I was thinking about shortly after my nerves calmed down. I was thinking HD grille and L bumper! Also, my insurance gives me a rental for 30 days at no more than $30/day. Can I get a Mustang with this? Anyone know the rates for rental cars?

 

Technically it's not legal for YOU to rent the car. Your parents will have to.

OMG guys, you know what I mean... dont try to use your smart-**** replys and ruin my night anymore than it has. I'm just saying, I'll be the one driving it. He's of course going to be the one retrieving it. My question is "can I get a Mustang for $30 a day?"

My dad has already contacted the insurance. I had EVERYTHING on that truck. Collision, PIP, rental, glass, EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

What are your guy's opinions on the fault? Pictures have enough justice for the court just incase her insruance dosen't pay up?

 

thats me and my friend right there. any time me and him were in a vehicle together ***** happened. did a 360 in his screw getting on the interstate, drifting and his truck went in a ditch and stopped about 6 inches from a 10ft drop off, got a 300zx had it for 3 days some stupid girl pulled out in front of us, we swerved she cut us off again and we hit a curb and jumped the car about 45 ft (we measured it but i forget what it was exactly) totalled the car. a month later he totaled his screw.

 

Isn't the VIN visible through the windshield?

Yeah, but I wanted to impress him with how I'm the only person he's ever met that memorizes their VIN.

@ Matt, as soon as I sounded my horn, she saw me and stopped in the middle of the intersection, I cut hard right to try and miss her. had i hit her dead on, it would've messed up the whole front end, possibly smashing engine components.

 

looks like its her fault. i heard some where a while back, not sure if its true or not, but if you hit the front of a car like that its their fault if you hit the back it could possible be your fault, but it does not always go like that i know for a fact. but obviously thats her fault. didn't your police report show whose fault?

They will pay, but if your back is injured, It wasn't a good idea to jump out of the window. Have a Dr. examine that back. These are no BS response's. Been there and done that. Also the property damage can also be settled without settling the physical damage. If the insurance argues with you hire an attorney immediately. Don't sign off on the medical until required to by Law. For injuries of this nature, it takes time to develop, and the insurance company will want to settle as soon as possible.



As to my understanding of the Law, if you didn't loose control of you truck and you hit her at the front of hers she is at fault, unless you violated a yield or similar warning signs.

i have made these mistakes, I didn't hurt at the time of the accident, maybe adrenalin or who knows what. The people that pulled out in front of me looked lick a whole stringer of bream flopper's.

It was weeks later before my symptoms started, The Doctors I've seen said it happens often. To beware of the insurance company representatives, they are trained very well.

 

Thanks for the suggestions Tumba. My rears locked up (only front have ABS) but I had steering control all the way up to impact. Its just a little muscle ache, mostly gone now. Might've been when I went under the truck to take the bumper off so my dad could drive it home. No biggy, I'm not going to the ER or anything. I'll be sure to update with more pics as soon as the arrive and I'll let you know the status as soon as the insurance claims adjuster shows up and gets the accident report from the P.D.

On a side note, she did not directly state is was her fault, nor did she say sorry or anything. She must've done this type of thing before. But when she was walking around puffing on a cig and talking to somone on her phone, I could her her murmur: "I pulled out in front of him and cut him off"

Like I said before, no ciations, nothing, but DEFINATELY her fault!

I'll update tomorrow. I never did get to my destination (restaurant) so I'm bloody hungry. Going to get some tacos! Later guys and thanks all!
