Question Why are so many people trading in 97/98/99 for '00

I don't understand why people modify thier trucks to get it just perfect then trade it in and sign up for another 5 years of payments.
Owners of 97 trucks are almost done if not already done with thier payment book why don't they just use the extra $ for more mods (you can never have enough)

Question

Good question, I for one will not be trading in for a long while, if ever.

It could be for the same reason I am gonna end up ditching this 99. Maybe their is an option they regret having or not having and they are trying to solve this problem. Bigger engine, larger cab, DIFFERENT SEATS or whatever their dilemna may be.

Otherwise the F-150 is a long term vehicle as I see it.

Or maybe their lease is expiring. Seems a lot of people are doing that now.

I have always traded after about three years. This one I plan on keeping for a while though. I have it pretty much the way I want it (54regcab: your right. You never can have enough mods.)

I won't be buying another F150 unless they change the rear seats back....

Plus, I'm ready to move up I think. Next will be an F350 Crew Cab Short Bed ORP.

Conqsoft...the "00 is supposed to have a backseat that flips up (just like the Tundra!). Personally, I prefer the fold-down feature.

Future mods: 2/4 lowering, bra and some Roush stuff. Also want Gibson Supertruck

I am like seacrow....it is a few options I did not get the first time around....I really need the 4th door, prefer rear disk brakes, CD player this time, and the overhead console is nice. Towing package and heavy duty cooling this time around. Basically MORE TOYS!

Not to mention.....early production problems...

There have been a ton of posts on cracks developing in the 97-98 (99?) doors. Piston slap in the 97's through early 99's. Cracks in the roof water channels (which mine DOES have).

I sold my 97 lariat 4X4 ORP SC because I wanted a 96 collector corvette...

Then I got married, smartened up, sold the vette, bought an explorer, and traded in my wife's honda civic when I got MY f150!

Once the summer was over, and the corvette was fast becoming my winter car (just kidding) I realized I shoulda kept my ford! Unless this turns out to be a lemon, it will be in my driveway for the next 10 years, maybe more.

A new truck is a possibility when I graduate college, but I really like the truck I have. But I figure there will be a lot more products out there for the 97's by the time I graduate and I will also be able to afford them myself. Also my truck will be paid for by then and then its totally mine. I can put whatever I want on it and that's all I have to pay for (other than insurance). I can live with the reg cab and the V6 can always be replaced with a v8. But I'm still not sure though, depends on what they look like by May 2001.
