So...Hurricane Ike....
I'm in Laporte where we had a mandatory evac. I left friday at around 2pm. Didnt see any traffic, and went to magnolia to weather out the storm. Its about 70 miles northwest of la porte. We came back Saturday at around 2pm when it was still raining pretty hard. I drove the f150 through a few flooded roads the highest being about 6 inches to get back home at La Porte. The cops are really bad around here tonight and they say they wont let anyone come back into town tomorrow. The curfew is pretty much all day. Cops are everywhere which is good and bad. The phones are also not working and the power is out for about 4 million people. They said it wont be on for about 3-4 weeks, which would be the worst part of the storm. To my suprise the power turned on tonight!!! I was shocked because at every corner theres busted and fallen power line. We had a tree uproot in the backyard and hit the house. Luckily no damage to the house was done and the tree was up against out living room windows. Well, its going to be a lot to clean up this week and hopefully the town will be back up and running in a week or so. They are saying school is out "indefinately". I have pics I will post up later. I dont think there too great though. I wish all that Ike effected the best of luck!!!
Heres a couple of pics. Not the best but oh well. I wasnt too worried about taking pics. These are of our house and a tree blocking the road.
I might get a few better ones tomorrow if the cops let us leave our houses.
A huge tree blocking the road:

My house on the left:

My backyard, after we started cutting up the tree that fell on our house. All the fences are down basically in the entire area.

There were lots of down power lines and poles through out the town aslo. Some houses had bad roof damage and a lot of metal awnings and doors got destroyed. Anything made out of sheet metal got messed up as well. I'm about 7-10 miles from sylvan beach and about 5 miles away from the ship channel. We got lucky.
Edit: the power just flickered, so I hope it stays on here!!!!
