Racism

All right, before I start, this isn't meant to offend anyone who reads it. It is just something that happened to me the other day that really rubbed me the wrong way.

I don't know how any of you feel about other races, but I am not trying to get anyone to voice their opinions. What is offensive to some might not be to others and I understand that.

Now that I'm done pre-apologizing.

A few days ago, I went to Wal-Mart like I always do to meet friends and see who all is in town. I live in a small town and there isn't much to do. I had one of my good buddies with me; We were just kickin' it Southern Style. Tearin' through the parking lot, music blaring, windows down, shorts and boots, wasting gas, and staying out of the heat. I turned down the aisle and pulled in a space. I turned around and looked behind me and the ***-end of my truck was stickin' out in the lane. So I pulled up a little more and a little more until I see the car in the space in-front of me rock. I immediately thought great now not only do I have to spend money on my truck, but I gotta fix this lady's car, too. I backed up and got out and looked at the front of my truck and the lady's car. Nothing was messed up. My dixieland tag was bent so I bent it back and checked the lady's front end some more. I apologized and she told me it wasn't her car and to wait for the owner. Then she got down and looked at her front end and the mine. When the dixieland tag got in her line of site, all hell broke loose. She started screaming and yelling. Calling me a racist and saying the only reason I hit her was because she was "An old black woman" So the Wal-Mart Security guard rolled up and heard our stories and told her there was nothing she could do because there were NO damages. Then the owner comes out. She had some sense... I thought so I apalogized again and went on about my business. When I came back out, they all three jumped in thier care and started backing up. I thought aww hell here we go another parking lot brawl over my truck, or it is keyed all the way to hell and back. I ran up and got the tag number and she got out and started demanding I fixed the little plastic thing where the tag can go on the front. So I crouched down, and bent it back, but then she said her bumper was messed up too. I don't have a brush guard or anything to mess up her bumper. So the Security guy told me to leave. I did, but never did the "n-word" come from my mouth to any of them or around them. I don't see why they automatically think a rebel flag means a cross-burning white boy is gone hop out the truck.

Any comments?

I dont think you're racist because of that. Nothing that you said in your story led to that. But on another subject, I think that flag is really bad. It pretty much supports being against America. Am I right?

The Flag Of The Confederacy? No. Hell no. Not to me. I always say, "Heritage not hate." America would be what it is today with out the Confederacy. Why do you think it is against America?

this is getting too common. people mis-construe things. this is everyone including me and you.

The Rebel Flag to ME is Southern Pride nothing more.

Now to others this can bring up past expierence's that could be hurtful. But honestly i think this is more HOO HA... than anything else.

point being if you have ANYTHING that could be controversial you have to except the good with then bad.

For exmple I fly 2 rebel flags from my truck from time to time. Sure i get dirty looks from people but i dont care. Have the people that give dirty looks are just going on things they read about the flag.

another example. I drive a lifted truck and get dirty looks for that also. Because im sucking so much more gas than they are in thier "smartcar" that im single handedly raising the demand of petrol.

My moto is "I do what I want" and if anyone has a problem they can tell me but dont think I will let someone walk over me.

Well I have been raised to love the South and stay fateful to her and everything she stood for. During that time almost every farmer/plantation owner, North or South, had slaves, but people from the South are the only ones who have the steriotype or Racist, Inbred, and Stupid. Honestly, I was raised not to take crap from anyone, and to stand up for my family, friends, and heritage. If a black person was flying an African flag people wouldn't automatically think... Racist. Would they? No. But as far as the Rebel Flag. Yep they are going to a klan meeting right then. According to the real rascists

Ok, in my opinion, people are way to quick to throw out the "race card". Im not nessarly a rasest, but there are certion members of each race that do certon things... anyone who has heard Carlos Mencia knows what i mean. He has hit the nail on the head.. im not going to go into it, i really dont want to misquote him or offend anyone... but theres my $.02

I know what you mean. Some people give their entire race a bad name. Like anyone from any race who commits a hate crime or is constantly slandering any other race.

The flag is about heritage not hate. I don't see why people still can't grasp this. The south didn't secede from the union just because they hate blacks and wanted slaves. But ignorant people still see the flag as a hate symbol. Great to see you support your heritage. Keep those flags flying!

I know exactly what you mean. Its one of those things. Theres something about every race that will annoy another race. theres no way around it and thats why world piece is not a reality.

Theres things that i look down on thats not race-specific. but is found in certian races more than others.

Hell Yeah! Can't wait to get a toolbox and a whip so I can fly my heritage all through my town. Keep 'Em Up and Keep 'Em Proud!

Honestly, I was raised not to like black people. Thats how my dad was raised, and his dad, and his dad, and so on. I have black friends and everything, but most of the time its is the way some people were raised. I'm proud of my heritage and up bringing and I'm not afraid to say thats how I was raised.

How the hell do you figure that?

Its a southern flag, its a battle flag.

Its not a "Confederate Flag" agianst popular belief. the flag was never "officially" accepted as the Confederate flag.

The flag was first brought into battle fields replacing the old stars and stripes because of its closely resembling he national flag!

Im geussing ill be up for alittle while.

Showing pride for something like this is not putting America down it building up what you are showing pride for. If you flew an anti-america flag than yes thats agianst america.

In the last few years Dominican flags are getting more popular. I dont see this as being agianst America but if its so great there that you are showing pride then why not go there?

Im showing pride in the south geuss where i was born, raised and will die? THE SOUTH

I just want to say one thing. Not trying to team up on anyone, but why could any self-respecting American honestly cast their vote for Obama?
