Don't you think that owning a Colt with the Govt. Stamp on it will increase it's value vs a built rifle? But if I did go with a different AR15, I'd probably go with a DPMS. There is one for $1700 that is just sick on that Atlantic Firearms website but that's more than I want to spend for sure. I mean it's not going to be my last rifle so there's always going to be a possibility of me buying another AR15 if I like it a lot.

I actually can shoot a .50 cal Barret with armor piercing rounds almost whenever I want. It's sitting in the vault at the Seminole County PD. I know who donated the gun to them and he's very good friends with the Sheriff.

NICE! Just be careful, you might be having surgery on your back AND your shoulder.

Haha I know, one reason why I haven't fired it. I've seen it go off and it's just wow. There's only one range around here that I know of that it can be fired at ... I'm actually having surgery on June 18th.

Probably, but Colt AR15s are on the low end of the totem pole as far as firearms value and appreciation go. Guns are a lousy monetary investment, unless they're period correct C&Rs and/or NFA items.

I disagree. My HK 91 and Colt AR are both pre-ban. They are valued way more than when purchased. If Hussein Obama wins the Oval Office, high capacity mags and assault rifles will skyrocket. Also, the price of ammo is going to go up due to him or her placing restrictions. Call me crazy, but my HK was bought for 500, and is now worth 3500. HK does not make the 91 anymore...

+1 could not have said it better! I would highly recomend getting into an ar. I have two and now am building one for the first time. I must say that building one is way more fun and I have alot more pride involved with this rifle. But either way I dont think you can go wrong with an ar rifle. I will probably get flamed for this but IMHO I think all ar's are pretty much on a level playing field. Its just the few extra options and the name you pay for. But for the record all I shoot are bushmasters. Its part of my OCD problem I have to have matching rifles....

I'm leaning towards buying that Colt A2 AR15. I think it'd be plenty nice for me.

Since you know BMs, what's a good model in the $1200 price range?

For most states, there's no such thing as pre or post ban anymore. And your HK91 better be a mint example with all the goodies if you think it's worth $3500; nice shooters can be had for $2000-2500ish.

Honestly Thump, i think you should switch and go with the Wasr 10(AK)..It's cheaper and packs a better punch with the 7.62's.. It also doenst feel toyish like the Colts do. But either way is a good start to your soon-to-be collection

I keep going back and forth. Now I'm considering Colt, DPMS, Bushmaster.

I've shot Bushmaster and Rock River Arms uppers, and they've been great. I've owned Bushmaster, RRA, and DPMS lowers, they've all been great - the fit and finish on the RRAs is just a hair better than the others, but functionally they all worked fine. My main AR is a RRA upper on a Bushmaster lower with an RRA 2 stage trigger. Shoots great.

Real easy solution......buy one of each. It's worked for my brother so far!

check www.gunbroker.com you have to have a FFL to ship to but most of your local pawn/gun shops will do it for a fee.

I was just on the RockRiversArms website and can get a complete kit minus the stripped lower reciever for $680. The stripped lower reciever is only $155 but it says allow 6-8 months for delivery. What gives ...
