Let's start over......
All you have to do is take the U joint loose, then slide the shaft out.

So, it's different from the yolk going into a two wheel differential? When you disconnect the u-joint, there is a sline left that will fall out if you don't remove it, and when you remove it, the grease runs out past the seal. I've never looked at a 4 wheel drive so, I guess the spline is bolted in with a plate?

I figured different but similar as they both come out of transmissions or transfer cases that contain lubricant. But, I've never looked at one. It may be all external driveline with a plate holding the yolk to the transfer case.

You just slide thet yoke out, There is a seale there behind it.
