Don't worry, the fluid won't run out. There is a seale in the transfer case.
All you have to do is take the U joint loose, then slide the shaft out.

I hope that helps you.

So, it's different from the yolk going into a two wheel differential? When you disconnect the u-joint, there is a sline left that will fall out if you don't remove it, and when you remove it, the grease runs out past the seal. I've never looked at a 4 wheel drive so, I guess the spline is bolted in with a plate?

Since its 4wd I guess it is different. I would assume the rear driveshaft would be different from the front.

I figured different but similar as they both come out of transmissions or transfer cases that contain lubricant. But, I've never looked at one. It may be all external driveline with a plate holding the yolk to the transfer case.

You just take it loose at the U joint, and leave the yoke in place.

You don't have to take the yoke out.
The U joint just has the four nuts holding it in place.

So, the yolk will not pull out like on a two wheel drive? It's bolted in?

I think I need to clarify that. You Slide the yoke out of the transfer case, there is a seal there. The differential end is where you just unbolt the U Joint.

easiest way to disable just pull the trim off of the radio trim and unplug the connector on the back side of the switch.

However you should get better gas mileage if you take the shaft out, less rotating mass, including the differential, and axle shafts
