Nice, I love climbing with the EB. It'll out pull any halfton out there and it's fun doing it. Here is a little 6 percent grade with 6800lbs behind it. Cruised up at 70mph without a sweat.

Question for the Texas Folks. I am looking to buy a privately owned vehicle. The inspection was done in January 2016 but the registration hasn't been renewed and its out by about 7 months. With the new inspection law of getting it inspected before registration will i have a problem getting a registration sticker? Can i get it inspected for a second time so i can get the year long registration? I'm afraid if i can't get it reinspected that they will give me a registration sticker that expires when the inspection expires in 4 months.

Also, does anyone know of a good state calculator that can figure TTL??

Well at least Trump showed up in Baton Rouge to look at the flood damage. Obama was busy playing golf and Hillary was probably making deals with the middle east to funnel money into their foundation. Almost 30 inches of rain in some areas and the 5 or 6 inches of rain at my house seems like a drought.

Coy -- good question on the registration. My understanding is that the safety inspection has to take place within 90 days of renewing your registration, which would likely force you to have it re-inspected before you could get your window sticker. Let me know if you find out differently.

You'll have to get the car reinspected. They want a copy of the insurance to be on file which creates a mess of issues. In Texas, when you sell a car individual to individual, the seller is supposed to take the plates off of the car and turn them in. So if you buy in Austin from an individual, I assume you either need a Bill of Sale to drive it or take it back to Angelo on a trailer. Then you would get insurance, register the car in your county, the inspection, and then 48 hours later get the sticker online. Once you've paid for the sticker online, you can print the receipt out and use it for driving the car legally. At least this was how it was explained to me when I bought a truck that was out of county. I ended up a buds dealership and handed it to his secretary who had me up and running in a hour. Yeah, I know, that's cheating but I'm pushing 70 and need all the breaks I can get.

I am planning on taking it Monday to get insurance on it, then inspected then to the title office. I know use to they ask if the registration sticker is good, if you tell em it expired they just add the sticker cost onto the TTL.

I have the title and the 1030 form which is Texas Application of Title and will have insurance card, so should have all the paperwork i need. Hopefully it all goes smooth.

Im also going to try to put it is his name, i have a copy of his DL and all his info. Im 50/50 if that will work. If they wont let me ill just put it in my name and save the time and trouble of getting him up there

Yeah, I've been thinking about what I want to do. Right now I'm leaning towards running the Cavalier as my daily driver for the following reasons:

- Lower miles -- 76k on the Cavalier vs. 168k on the Escape.

- Better fuel economy -- 29-30 mpg with the Cavalier vs. 21-23 mpg with the Eacape.

- Cheaper overall maintenance on the Cavalier -- especially on tires.

- Oil leaks -- not a drop from the Cavalier vs. numerous drops from the Escape.

The only things that make it a tough choice is that the Escape is MUCH nicer to drive, I just did a bunch of recent maintenance on it (tires, brakes, tune-up, battery) and the fact that I have maintained it religiously since new.

Pin striping is somewhat of a lost art -- I remember when even new cars had painted pin striping from the factory versus the vinyl striping you most commonly see today.

Had to think about that one for a minute! I was thinking, "When did Coy buy a Mercury?"
