This is the tire I was going to put on my 2011 if I had not traded it in. Get them put on this afternoon, new tires always make a big difference.

Wife is already fussing at me for not going with the Michelins. Just not sure the Michelins are worth the extra money any more. They would have been $280 MORE.
Wife runs the Michelins on the last 4 vehicles she's had and no problems other then a sidewall puncture they couldn't fix. Its been years since we've had Yokohama tires and they were OK too. I'm a firm believer of keeping good tires on a vehicle. Years ago it was hard to get 20K miles out of a set of tires...now 50K or more is not unheard of. How about some pics of the new rubber?

I could have gotten the Michelins for about $100 more from Discount Tire in Burleson. It just takes a half a day to get anything done there, even a rotation and balance. Always a long line of people waiting. Since I'm semi-retired, I just don't have the time to wait! No waiting at this shop in Athens.

I have run Michelins on several vehicles but just not sure they were worth 35% more.

Same here...I can save by going into the New Orleans area but by the time you figure you'll spend plus the gas and aggravation I just buy local. If I need anything corrected the locals usually jump right on it. Most of the tire shops out here in the country sell and stock truck tires so they're use to fooling with them. Wife and I had to go to Sams in Houma yesterday to stock up on some things for the house and that was a pain with the traffic. You'd figure a town of 30K people wouldn't be that congested with traffic but it is.

I looked at the those Yokohama's also, if I remember it was a 70k tire. I almost went with them but they weighed a little more than I wanted and that's why I went with the Nitto's.

I agree with the michelin's price difference. Its one of those thing if you are certain to keep the truck another 80/90k miles it would be worth it, I bet you could get that mileage out of them.

I had Yoko's on my v10 crewcab and it was a very good tire. Also had them on my 03 KR but didn't keep the truck very long after I put them on

Yes, this Yoko is either 70,000 or 75,000 which means I will probably get about 50,000 out of them. They have an H speed rating. According to what I found online, they are lighter than the Michelins I was looking at, which weighed 47.8 each. Pretty heavy, and that was another consideration, mpg.

Found some weights on the tires that make more sense. The Yokohamas weigh 35.8 and the Michelins weigh 37.9.

Doubt it would've been much difference between those 2 for MPG. Still bet you will lose a little bit as the OEM tires always weigh less, ID bet you are adding around 6lbs a tire from OEM to Yoko's. Maybe .5 to 1 MPG less. I know my switch from OEM Michelin's to the Coopers were over 10lbs a piece and I dropped 2 MPG on the highway.

Did you stick with the 265/60's ?

Started planning our summer vacation. Thinking about splitting it into 2 destinations. Head to the Grand Canyon, then either head to Vegas, or head up to the Western part of Colorado around Telluride or Durango.

Thought about maybe heading north to Salt Lake City but not sure if there will be much to do.

May end up renting a car for this trip, get a fusion and pay 35 a day and get 30mpg, or just take the truck and get 10 less mpg and save the rental cost.

Desicions desicions

I don't know what these Michelin OEM tires weigh, but on my 2011 when I went from the Goodyear OEM to Toyo, there was about 9 lbs per tire difference. That cost me somewhere around 1.7 mpg. When you figure 50,000 miles, that is a lot of $$$. Yes, I would like a bigger tire for appearance purposes, but stayed with the 265/60/18 for simplicity.

I don't remember where I found it but the OEM Michelin's are in the 30 to 31lb range. I went from 265/60 to 275/65 back down to a 265/65. I'll take fuel mileage any day over appearance, especially the driving I do. If it was a garage Queen being driven 10 miles a week then I wouldn't worry much.

We've been toying with the idea of doing a Grand Canyon / Hoover Dam / Lake Tahoe trip for our summer vacation as well. We've also been thinking maybe Boston and then up along the Maine coast because of the cooler weather.

Been to Salt Lake several times for business -- there isn't much to do there unless you head up toward Park City. For me, going to Salt Lake City would be somewhat like going to Waco and calling it a vacation.....
