Almost 12 mpg isn't bad, well it sucks, but not for a v10 One guy I know got his f250 new in 2001 and he says the best he's ever gotten was 11 mpg. It's usually between 9-10.

I can actually get almost 14 on the highway. Pretty surprising actually considering how heavy it is.

Good Grief! I got 40k out of my first set which is great compared to others

One thing I noticed recently is the Motorcraft SP534 plugs has doubled in price everywhere. Were $3.99 and now they are $7.99.

That's exactly what my 00 v10 crewcab 5 speed got. One time I got 16 on a run to Fort Worth.

I loved that v10, it basically got the same mileage empty or loaded Down.

And with my 93 performance tune from 5 Star, it runs like a scalded ape. I've got ten tunes in my SCT Livewire TS. Not messing around or skimping on this girl.

Having hell with this plug change on the cavalier. Should be a simple job but the coil boots won't release. Therefore I can't get the black cover off to get to the plugs. Bout to say screw it.

Could you just cut them off and get new boots and/or wires if you had to? The plugs on my Cavalier have to be the easiest things in the world to get to, but I have never tried pulling the wires to see if they are stuck in the plug wells after all these years. I likely won't mess with mine until it is time for the 100k plug change, so I probably have a couple of years before I will need to deal with it on my '97.....

The cover won't release any at all. Of course it's plastic so any type of hard pull is going to break the cover like no other. Already put a small crack in it with a gentle tug.

I've watched 50 YouTube videos and of course those show once the bolts are removed it just lifts up very easily.

That sucks, hope ya get it figured out!

Mine needs a thermostat, it's stuck open. The temp needle jumps around the first line on the gauge but won't go any higher and hardly makes any heat. I had to leave at 6:30 this morning to take the dog to the vet and it was -5 out. Once I got on the highway I opened my thermos of coffee and the Windows instantly fogged up and I couldn't get them to defog It was the longest 30 minute ride I've ever had

Got it! I'm surprised this little car was still running as good as it was. No rough idle, good power still, but fuel mileage was down to 24mpg.

171,211 miles oem ac delco's

Recommend .043 gap.

Old plugs were .065, .070, .070, and one where the tip was total gone and it was over .080.

Any difficulty getting them out after so many years or did they break loose pretty easily?

I think I'll change the name of this thread to the Cactus Cavalier Club.
