I need to make a new sig. Also considering in the near future buying me a 2.3 Ranger for commuting. Using the v10 for commuting isn't feasible.

If you're considering buying a Ranger for maximum fuel mileage make sure you get a manual transmission -- the automatics (even with the 4-banger) really don't get that good of mileage. If economical commuting was my goal I think I'd look for an older Focus instead -- you'll likely get a better deal on one of those than trying to find a Ranger that hasn't had the ****ens beat out of it!

Yes much to my wife's protesting, I'm getting a manual. If I'm going to be driving it I want max economy and I can pep it up however I like that way. I drive mostly highway and I like the Rangers. 12mpg on the v10 ain't so good.

A manual Ranger with the 2.3 should give you mid-20's mpg pretty easily -- the later Duratec models would be your best bet!

I'm looking at the duratecs. Reading good things about them. And with all the minuscule amount of hauling I do it would be perfect for me so I can park the Harley truck. It's got 40 grand on it now. I'd like it to stay low mileage.
