Let's start over......
Nice, but owning a Black vehicle with no pavement? Brave...
My little Cavalier gets 28 to 31 mpg pretty easily and can fill it up from empty on 30 bucks with current fuel prices, Plus its saved about 10k already on the truck even though i'm about to roll over 45k this week.
Its also nice to just park it anywhere in the parking lot and if it get's a ding or dent its no big deal, i got my first door ding on the Eb last week and i'm still pissed about it.
Parts on these cars are stupid cheap, tires are cheap also at around 40 bucks a pop.

Since mine was such a low-mileage car when I got it (31,000 when I picked it up last June) I have been going through it and doing lots of preventative maintenance -- flushed and filled all the fluids (they were all factory), replaced the tires (factory), battery and serpentine belt (factory), put some money into the A/C, and replaced the alternator. The only real service item I have left to address is to replace the struts at all four corners. Combining the cost of this maintenance with the initial cost of the vehicle probably doesn't make a ton of financial sense on paper, but I am very confident that this thing will now run trouble-free for many, many miles and end up being extremely cheap and reliable transportation when all is said and done.
But the biggest benefit is easily the wear-and-tear it allows me to keep off my other vehicles! Since June of this year I have put just under 9,000 miles on it -- miles that would have otherwise gone directly onto my other vehicles. Even if it's something simple like you just washed the wife's car and now it's raining -- jump in the little Cavalier for your trip down to Target and leave the Escape in the garage! Despite my wife's protests, having this little "runner" in the stable makes so much sense it surprises me that more people don't do the same thing!

Just got back last night from a trip to Galveston and to League City. We attended a memorial service Saturday for my wife's niece and her two small children that were killed in a car crash 25 yrs ago in the Houston area. We surprised my wife's sister and her husband at the church. Truck did great on the trip and with close to 11K miles on it's ready for it's 2nd oil change.
Signed the offer on the house today. Takes up to 60 days for the bank to respond, then 45 more for closing process. Realtor says if all goes well we could possibly close around the end of March.
Why didn't you get pre-approved? Would have saved you a ton of time!
I did, but it's a short sale, so the bank (the one that owns the house) takes forever to accept our offer. If it was a private seller it would be done a lot quicker, that's for sure!
