Wife and I kind of sketched out plans of what we wanted and the contractor doing the overbuild took it from there. Cinder block's supporting the outside perimeter and 1x6 treated boards on top. Brick's on outside. Most of the work was overseen by my wife who was living at our daughter's house 2 or 3 days of the week plus working in Lockport. I was living and working in Belle Chasse and could only check on the house mostly on weekend's. We started in Sept '07 and moved in early March '08. My house in Belle Chasse was already sold and I had to pay the new owner's house note for about 4 month's so I could stay there with the clothes and some of the furniture. Glad that's behind me!!!

Wood decking but the support is the cinder block's all around the perimeter. Brick's are just hiding the cinder block's.

I got ya!!! We're looking into going something the same. The wife wanted to do a concrete porch with brick around it.

Kind of ticked me off because I couldn't be at the house daily to see what was going on but working in Belle Chasse prevented that.

Concrete is expensive to build a porch compared to the cinder block's.
