Have to rent an inner tie rod tool from AZ. I'll go get it in the morning.

It's not heavy enough that I thought I had to kick it out of OD but the SLIGHTEST grade I lose speed and kicks down into 3rd. Today I kept it out of OD on the way home and it did just fine. Maybe I'm expecting too much out of the truck. I just thought it should handle it better than it does.
Matt,

its nothing wrong with your truck. When I had my pontoon I absolutely hated pulling it. I was non stop kicking down to 3rd to keep pace and I had a tuner with 3.73 rear end. The thing that kills your truck was the same thing that killed mine. WIND DRAG. I struggled pulling that boat more than the 8000lb car trailer loaded.

Thanks, makes me feel a little better. I figured that wind drag had something to do with it.

I didn't think anything was wrong with the truck, it has tons of power when empty/pulling my little 14' boat, just kind of surprised on how poorly it pulled the pontoon. My problem is I expect the 5.4 with 3.73's to pull like a 7.3 diesel.

I understand and theres been a time or two I should have actually had a 7.3 with some of the stuff I have hooked to.

I am with you on the boat thing though. Most frustrating thing I have towed to date. I registered 8 mpg's puling mine. I was trilled poopless when I sold it to a GM owner. I laughed all the way home.

Not sure what I got for MPG. I'm just below a half tank and have 185 miles on the trip. Usually when I'm at half a tank I have around 250 on the trip

I usually around 265 when my low fuel light comes on.

Some people shouldn't do their own mods.

Can someone confirm for me that a 2004 Fx4 does come with an oil pressure gauge in the stock instrument panel? The stock gauges are fuel, volt, water temp, and oil pressure correct?
