i wouldnt worry about doing them unless you have been abusing the truck, heavy towing, no axle fluid change, 100k+ etc

Im not gonna tell you that you arent allowed to do them, but it may not be necessary....

I believe they are fine. I've towed twice, only light loads. I have never spun the tires on my truck. I just don't want to have to go in there for another 76,xxx miles...

Yea i totally understand. Ive pushed mine hard on the silver truck with a heavy tow, later undersized tires, and lots of tire spinning.

Red truck has undersized tires now (spins axles faster at same speeds)

$380 is more than I want to spend doing that. I suppose I'll be studying Q's thread.

I've done seal replacement on worm gearboxes before at a place I used to work at, basically the same philosophy. Input shaft, pinion, bearings, seals, worm gear, output shaft. Rebuilt them as well.

Might as well as replace the bearings while you're in there... cause if you don't, I bet you'll hear a whining in a year or so...
